Oh, My Jordy Boy

Mommy's missing you terribly today. I know you're safe and with Sasha and aren't sick anymore, but mommy still has a huge hole in her heart for you. You came to me as a little ball of fur so long ago and grew into a very handsome, gentle cat man. You were always so sweet, it's no wonder you became my sugar cat. Misty still misses you as I KNOW Oliver does. I believe they can still smell you in certain places. Mommy still has your helper steps that daddy bought for you to get onto our bed with when you legs got weak. I just remember my sweet, amber-eyed, fluffy kitty boy always relaxed and always full of love to give.

Jordy Has Crossed Over

It is with a very sad heart that I must write this final entry. Jordy became very ill and had was in a lot of pain in May. Nothing the vet tried would help him and he continuously declined. Even with subcutaneous fluids, he remained very dehydrated, his kidneys were failing, and he had bleeding into his bladder (not from crystals).
On Friday, May 16, 2008, I took Jordy to the vet one last time. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge very swiftly and very peacefully. I can believe it was the right choice to make for the sweetest kitty boy I've ever known. I feel blessed to have had him in my life for almost all of his 14 1/2 years.
The night before, I cut some locks of his hair, some of the black and silver, and some of the snow white, and put them with his tag in a little box just as I'd done for his kitty sister, Sasha, in 2006.
Jordy did not die of his feline diabetes. In fact, he'd not even needed any insulin injections since October 2007. His kidneys failed him and he was in terrible pain. The greatest gift I could give my precious boy at that point was to set him free and let him be whole and happy again.
I'm sure he's romping around in the fields of green with Sasha now. I hope to see you again someday, my love.

Not Feeling 100%

Guess I'm just getting old. I can't eat very much at one time and mom has to water down my food. She's brushed my teeth a couple of times...that was a horrible experience! She said she didn't see or smell anything bad like an infection and I didn't act like anything hurt. She did say my teeth were dirty from eating only canned stuff now. No crunchies to break up the mess. She says I have to go to the vet for a check up this summer. I hate the thought of that. I still don't need any insulin...haven't since last October.

Yummy New Food

And good for me, too! Mom started me on Wellness brand dry and canned. She says it's better for my diabetes. I guess it must be since she's been so happy with the number on the machine lately PLUS I have had to have a shot of insulin in nearly 2 weeks.

Feeling Pretty Good

It's hot outside but I'm inside with the cool air, just as I should be with my long hair. Mommy had to get some tangles out of it last night...ouch! Then she gave me a hygienic shave and finally a good brush out. Wonderful! I got another brushing tonight. Mom says my skin is dry and flaky, so she's trying to stimulate the oil glands to see if they still work. My diabetes made my skin very dry.
We have a new cat in the house. Misty is her name. Mom brought her in from outside and she's so much like Sasha used to be, but Sasha was a bit more forceful. Anyway, Misty needs to learn her place in the ranking around here because she's getting on my nerves. She's got her front claws and a mean hiss, though, so I don't go around her too much.

Love Saturdays!

Yay! It's Saturday again! The whole family is home and mommy is hanging out extra long with me on the bed. She got up early and fed me some yummy tuna...the REAL kind! Extra good!
Last month, mom had to give me a very humiliating shave. She said I had knots and mats in my hair...I thought "mats" were what you stepped on after getting out of the litter box. How could I have one of those in my hair??? No matter, she tried to get them out with a special comb and cut her finger pretty bad, so out came the electric hair trimmer. I do NOT like that thing. But mom was not in a good mood so I let her trim. She laughed when she was done, said it looked silly and she'd love to know what I sat in but I don't remember. Last night, she found another "mat". She said she'll try the regular comb to get it out this weekend. I've never had these "mat" problems before.

Feeling Pretty Good

It's been a long time since I've felt this well. I've been able to go outside onto the patio to hunt lizards, been downstairs hanging out with mom, and have been down there lying next to Jasmine the bunny's play pen. Oliver, our dog, annoys me at times. I think he's trying to pick fights with me by putting his paw on me when I'm lying down. So I let out a frustrated cry and Ollie gets into trouble. Hehe.
We have had a lot of rain the past 3 days and I don't like that. I think it even makes mom and dad feel gloomy and tired.
I got a new electric cat box for upstairs. It cleans itself after I do my business in it, and has a cover on the top....kind of looks like a silly covered wagon.
I got a new Smart Box for downstairs which allows the wee-wee to go into a container so mom can check it for glucose and ketones. It's pretty cool for that but I still think the floor is best for poo.

A bag of Feline Greenies, A Cosmic Country Catnip pouch, and some Kookamunga catnip. What more could a cat guy ask for???? I did miss Sasha, though.

Written 10/21/06...Getting Back To Normal Again

My friend Sasha has been gone from us for 3 weeks and one day now. I have had a very tough time dealing with her not being here. Mom said when I was a baby kitten and she brought me home, Sasha was 2 years old and didn't like me at first. Mom said Sasha used to scare me and knock me all around. Mom was scared Sasha would really try to hurt me bad but one day mom had to go get some food at the store and she had to leave us alone in the apartment we lived in back then. She said she told us to get over our differences while she was gone. She said when she came home, Sasha and I were on the sofa together as if we'd never had a fight ever. Mom said Sasha kind of treated me like I was her kitten after that. Sasha was the boss and I was to obey her but she also looked out for me. She was there for me my whole life until 3 week ago. Now she is gone. Mom said she left her pain behind and went to a wonderful, beautiful place called the Rainbow Bridge. She said one day I will go there, too, but not until it's time. Last night, I was feeling especially lonesome for Sasha so mom took the special box down and opened it. She tookout Sasha's collar and a lock of Sasha's hair for me to smell. It was wonderful!
We also have a new bunny - a dwarf bunny - in the house. Her name is Jasmine and she's pretty cool. I like her and I know Sasha did, too. I have my breakfast by Jasmine's cage every morning before mom takes Jasmine out to put her in her bigger playpen downstairs. I do not like to go downstairs too much during the day as the sunlight hurts my eyes, so I just wait until Jasmine comes back to her cage in the late afternoons for bedtime. Then I sometimes have my dinner there, too. Other times, I just hang out with her, watching her. She's funny and likes to play a lot...and eat a lot!
I turned 13 years old this week, on the 19th, so now I am a teenager.

This Food Rocks!!!

Mom got me this new canned food at our grocery store. It's Publix brand that's like ground Fancy Feast, but the Publix tastes sooooo much better. Mom said that was great since it costs about 1/2 as much as the FF. Mainly, I've just been hanging out, staying cool in the a/c. It's really hot and humid here in FL. My fur is too thick for that!
