Arrival Story:
A friend of mine had two Burmese cats, and these so beguiled me with their playfulness and affection, I decided to get one of my own. So I went to a breeder of Burmese one New Year and spent an hour or so playing with the kittens to allow one to choose me, and Claudia did. Ever since, she's twisted me round her little paw.
Bio:
Claudia has had a happy and secure life, but you can't protect cats completely when they're curious and adventurous. She ate something hallucinogenic as a kitten and for three days stalked around on stiff legs, growling and snarling at things she couldn't see, and everything she could. I was worried we wouldn't get our sweet Claudy back and the vet had no idea what it was, but she came right. Another time, she was stung by a bee so that one paw was about three times its normal size; she looked so funny, poor little thing. Also, she once got too close to my car, and got caught between a tyre and the door. This terrified both of us (though all she got was a little cut in an armpit) but it's had the good result that she now won't go near a car if the engine's running. Sleeping cars are fine and can be lain on with impunity -- she's a very clever cat.
After Tessa passed on, Claudia was very lonely, so I got kitten Jasmin for her. I then realised that Jasmin would miss her when she too went, and she wasn't well, so I got Ashley as well. All three girls got on so well together, snuggling up, and Claudia enjoyed watching the kittens play.
My sweet Claudia left us on 18 June 2009. She had had kidney disease for about three years, and though she was very thin, she remained active till her last quick decline in a couple of days. Her last days were full of sunsine, cuddles, and love.
Dear little grey friend, we miss you and will never forget you.
