Arrival Story:
I had recently moved into a new apartment by myself and was feeling a bit lonely. My boyfriend, who lives in Canada currently, suggested I get a cat. So after some debating I decided to adopt an adult cat because a kitten would require too much attention and time (little did I know Brox would come into my life a few short months later). I went to the shelter and asked them if they had a sweet cat, who was playful but not rambunctious or destructive. I wanted one that was between 3 to 5 years old, and they had several to choose from. It was a difficult choice, but they had told me that Izzy came to the shelter from the home of a disabled person who could no longer care for her. She'd had a litter of kittens, but was now fixed, and was a very polite, sweet cat. I loved the little tufts at the end of her ears and her big green eyes. So I took I brought her home for the weekend for a 'trail run' and that Monday I went back to the shelter and told them I'd like to adopt her.

She was scared at first and spent most of the time hiding under the bed or in the big walk in closet. I left her alone and eventually she became more curious of her surroundings. It took her about a week to feel comfortable in her new home but now she is queen of the apartment and has certainly lived up to her reputation as a polite and very sweet cat.

Izzy is incredibly polite, but has a mischievous side to her. She often gets Brox into trouble. It's so rare for her to be naughty that he finds himself getting blamed for her pranks. Poor guy. But over all, she is the sweetest cat. She loves cuddling and laps. She will talk if you talk to her and loves to chase the laser pointer or a shoe string. Other toys she has little interest in. She likes to hang out in the window and watch the going ons around the apartment complex. She would like to go outside, but is opposed to collars and harnesses. Both my cats love new people, but Izzy is especially fond of visitors. She is a very large cat. My boyfriend calls her 'fat kitty' but she is not fat, just very big and sturdy, like a truck full of bricks. Brox will try to bully her sometimes and she just sits on him until he starts crying. She never bites him or claws him, but will just lay on him and stare at me as if to say, "It's cool, I got it handled."
