Arrival Story:
My husband and I adopted Gilligan right after we got married, our first major joint acquisition. We were at the pound and Gilligan reached out his paw and got my husband's attention, was removed from his cage, he curled around his neck and we were in love.

I still have a pretty good life here with Tilly and my humans (Zam is still with me in spirit), although I now have to receive Sub-Q once a day. I still like to play and bite (only play bite) . I do think my goofy papa has too many nicknames for me. They only listed a few above. One of my brothers left for the Himalaya and became a Sherpa cat. Not sure if he climbed Mt. Everest though. My other brother was a roadie cat for Primus.

Today was the toughest in any owner's heart as we had to have Gilligan put to sleep. He'd been on daily sub-q for almost two years but we could tell his body was getting ready to quit. We wanted him to be in peace before the pain would get him.

He's had a very full nine lives, and then some so this is but a sad blip considering all the fun times we've shared.

Aside from being very dignified right until the end, he’s also instilled his ninja bratiness in his protégée, Burt. The house will be a little quieter without Gilly chasing Sadie, or howling with pride when he’s successfully captured his indoor “prey” toys, or waking us up at 4 am for food. But Burt will pick right up.

Rest in peace G, you’ll always be our little buddy.

Country Cat

It's been a while since I clawed in my diary so here's what's been happening. After much complaining from me, the uprights finally listened to me and moved to a bigger house in the country. Of course they think it's fun to walk outside, track in mud, play with strange dogs who have fleas, and just act silly. I don't find it so humorous, especially when loud mechanical noises (and non-mechanical ones too) disturb my nap time. But I get 'em back.

Anyway, you might have seen the latest addition to my family. He's a little bugger named Burt. He's named after the famous Burt. I laid down the law pretty quick and I gotta admit he's a quick learner. He already annoys the uprights with his incessant appetite and penchant for waking them up several hours earlier to let them know that. I taught him that - thank you very much.

He's also a stinker too - but I don't know if the male upright had anything to do with that. But he helps me along in my older age. He does stuff I used to and I'm secretly training him to do stuff I would like to do. And Tilly really likes him.

I’ve also started him on a regimen of differential equations so he can complete my work on unifying quantum mechanics with general relativity. As you know string theory really irritates me so he must carry on my work. He shows great promise but his field equations are a bit sloppy. Perhaps he needs to listen to 2112 and Hemispheres a few more times. But we’ll get this stuff unified soon enough. Hopefully I get my sandwich first though – where is that thing!!!!

As for fleas, I don’t like them. But the uprights thought they would be nice and adopt a rescue dog from down the road. We don’t need dogs with fleas. But, I’ll train her nevertheless, once the uprights get her fleas under control.

Thank you all for the Rosettes - they make me happy!

Sandwich in a bag

It’s been quite a while since I updated my diary. But a lot has happened since then. I lost my best kitty friend when Zam passed away. Days afterwards I had to be taken into the emergency vet as I was passing blood. Obviously my folks were pretty upset. The tests also found that my BUN levels were very high. I wasn’t sure what that meant but given the looks on my folk’s faces, it wasn’t good. They ended up taking me into my regular vet and he diagnosed me with feline CRF and said I needed to go on Sub-Q treatment. I was pretty happy as they have great sandwiches – I especially like the Italian BMT!!

So I was in a good mood for my first Sub-Q; I’d been dreaming about salami all day! Then my goofball papa comes in the room with a bag of fluid hanging on a mic stand. I don’t venture much in the Outside World but that did not look like a Sub to me! Next thing I know, he puts a needle in my back and I feel the fluid building up. I did not like this and I let him know it. But I’ve come to accept it – it helps me and doesn’t hurt except for the little prick at the start. Goofball is actually pretty good at it and I behave. And my BUN levels are under control. But, I still want my sandwich!!
