Mom is looking for advice. This weekend moms young niece came to spend the weekend. She is a cat lover too.But everytime someone is over Hannah and I run and hide scared completely to death. This weekend I was so scared that I didn't come out of the closet at all.Not even to eat.Mom tried holding me by her niece but we just get more scared. So she thought best not to force people on to us to just let us be and have control to come around on our own.But she is afraid this is so much stress on me.Hannah at least will sneak out to eat but not me.It breaks moms heart to see me so frightened. It's new to her because her cat Harley was a people cat he loved people around. She is trying to think of a way to get us more social with people. She says I am a man with alot of issues.I am so picky with my food mainly only want Friskies indoor dry food I won't eat the special dry foods and I barely eat any can food and she is afraid the dry food will make me heavier.Hannah on the other hand will eat anything that doesn't move and still is quite small. So she keeps experiencing with new foods but I hear her complaining because when I don;t eat it she feels frustrated. What can I say I,m a cat I come with no guarantees just alot of attitude.mol

Sorry you get so scared. I get kinda scared around people too, but I'd never miss a meal over it! Maybe having some people over and giving you treats at the same time would get it in your head that the people are ok.
Good idea maybe mom can let the visitor give me treats or feed me when they are here.Lord knows us cats relate everything to food.
Hiya Hunter!! Moms Angel Hanna used to be a people cat. She would walk up to anyone on her own terms though. I, on the other hand, am more cautious. When mom has her nieces over (They're 2 and 1 years old) I get locked in moms room with my food and litter box. Mom feels its safer for me and for them. That doesn't stop me from coming out when adults are over though. Usually I'll just sit and they admire how handome I am. ;)
Moms advice, if you really want Hunter and Hannah to come out. Let them come to you. Have your niece get some treats and make a trail out to her where she will be sitting. Don't make her move. If Hannah or Hunter want to sniff her let them. No sudden movements. Have your niece put her hand to their noses very slowly so they can sniff her. I wouldn't hold them and present them to your niece. Let the cats come out on their own terms.
Purrz & Licks,
p.s. Hannas and Hunters RULE!! ;)
Thanks Hunter.Though moms niece is 11 years old we still are not sure but then I think Mom is still realizing she hasn't had us this long.Progress can be slow. She is thinking of getting a shirt of her nieces and laying in our spot to see if she can familarize us with her scent. It's hard on Mom because she likes her niece over but worries mainly about me because I don't come out to eat at all when she is here. Also next time Mom will buy some glitter balls for her to give us.They are our favorite.Hannah always hides them from me.mol
