Arrival Story:
I have always lived around cats, and had been wanting to adopt one since me and my boyfriend moved away from our parents and got our own place. (Three years.) We were finally in a situation where we could bring a kitty companion into our home and, since we already had a dog and my boyfriend wasn't a big cat person, I started searching local rescues for an adult cat between 1 and 4 years old that wasn't afraid of dogs and was calm. To save space, a big chunk of this is missing, but long story short, I ended up volunteering for a small local cat rescue. She forwarded me an e-mail from a lady (who's son is a vet) who was trying to find a home for two kittens she rescued off of someone's front porch. They were in bad shape, and Lynch had to have his eyes removed. Nova ended up partially blind in one eye. They were not siblings, but had been together since they were very young, and they relied on eachother for different things, so they had to be adopted together. I had only planned on having ONE cat, and had planned on adopting an adult. But after discussing it with my boyfriend, and showing their pictures, neither one of us could say no!

Can someone explain Christmas to me?

Lately, my mom has been spending a lot of time in her bedroom. She will come out multiple times a day to take care of us, and to take that funny-smelling dog creature, Toby, outside, or to eat. Then she will disappear beyond the door, again. I hear strange music eminating from inside there. A lot of it mentions something called, "Christmas." I have also heard my people talking about this "Christmas" and my mom said that she is in the bedroom making Christmas gifts.

I first noticed things getting odd a week or so ago, when my silly people started hanging socks on the wall. I've never heard of such a thing! I watched them as they put up some other decorations, such as images of a fat bearded man. I have also noticed that the temperature in the house is a little colder at night than it has been. So, what exactly is going on?

I heard my people say that one of those socks they hung on the wall is for us. I don't understand this. Why did they hang it so high that we cannot reach it if it's for us? Toby has a sock, too, but his has his name on it. Mom said she will put our names on ours later.

Don't get me wrong, the decorations are nice! Although I act like I don't notice. I can't let my people know that I like them. I mean, they aren't exactly worthy of a princess! I watched mom pull out some wax things called "candles" and she let me and Lynch smell them. She said she let us smell so that Lynch could enjoy the decorating, too.

Mom said that Christmas is in just a few days, and that she is almost done with the gifts. So, what is this "Christmas" that is being talked about everywhere? Mom says I will know, soon. She also says that I will be very happy, and that she has something for me and Lynch. Well, I can't wait to see what these things are! But I will also be very glad to have her back out here with me, and not in there working on "gifts!" I miss taking all of my daily naps in her, or should I say MY, lap!
