Arrival Story:
Remy showed up late one december night at the end of 2009, he was tiny, maybe 8 weeks old. I have no idea where he came from, we have a neighbor up the road who takes care of stray cats, but even those kittens wont come near anyone except her, some other near by people have cats, but we live in the country so even as close as they are, in the winter with how young he is that would be quite a feat. Also, people dump animals down our road, I think that is the most likely explanation. My now mother in law was the first to hear him when she was leaving our house [before my husband and I were married, I was still living with my parents] she came back in and asked if we had a cat. My dad said no, and we weren't getting one. He accused her of dropping him off at our house, just joking though. I took some crackers out to try and feed him, it was all I had that I thought a cat might eat. He didn't eat it, but he didn't take much convincing to come out from under the house to me [a small overhanging part under my room, its not very big] I just meowed back and forth with him and he came right out, let me pick him up, tried to get into the house. When I was leaving to go to my friends house to get some cat food, he jumped right up into the car with me, every time I tried to put him back out, he jumped right back in, so I took him with me since I didn't want him to go under the car and possibly get hurt. He was fine all the way there, sitting in a shoe box, and all the way back, just sat in my lap, I couldn't believe it. My dad told me I couldn't keep him, but I told him that I was going to feed him and take care of him, and if he stayed then he was my cat. He stayed, and 3 days after he showed up my dad had our old cats cage and litter box out in the garage for him [he stays in th cage when the garage is being opened and cars come in and leave, because the loud noise scares him and we had an accident with our first cat, so we don't want anything to happen to him. He now stays out in the garage or outside most of the time, olny really gets in his cage to use the litter box and eat, we don't even usually latch the door unless cars are coming in or out and the garage door is being opened]. Remy has turned out to be the sweetest, chillest, friendliest cat I have ever met. I am so glad he came into my life. I say he is my miracle cat and was sent to me, because shortly before he showed up, I was thinking of how cute cats with black faces and white whiskers were, and he has a black face with a white chin and whiskers! If he was dumped then whoever did that was stupid because he is such a great cat, but I'm glad they did it because he obviously wasn't in a very good place, and I'm glad that didn't change his view of people. And my dad who was so against keeping, now doesn't want to let him go! My husband and I will be taking him with us when we move to Florida, but my dad told me I was going to have to get a new cat because he wanted to keep Remy now. He was joking, but only partly, My dad really wouldn't mind keeping him.
