Arrival Story:
I was looking for a cat who looked similar to my previous beloved longtime furry friend. She was a petite 7lb Siamese, and went quietly to kitty heaven at 19. It took 1 1/2 yr for me to even want to find another cat. But got online one day and found a cat rescue/adoption place. I saw Bon's pic and knew she was the one! Had to travel 6 hr away to get her, visited her several times before bringing her home. She was a known "bad girl", and had been relegated at the foster home to the back porch, away from the other cats due to her aggressive behavior, beating up on the other cats. She had been adopted out several times and brought back, again due to "bad behavior". But we seemed to get along fine, she was affectionate and calm, etc. When I got her home, she spent 2 days under the bed, but finally came out to eat and then back under the bed for another few days. Finally, came out and looked around, decided she liked her new home and we have been good friends ever since. She is very feisty and temperamental, being part Siamese and part Lynx (wild). Also very vocal, makes her demands known. She is a rather large cat, 15 lb, and being part lynx has some of the markings, tufted ears and paws, square jaw, tiger striping on large head, etc. Also has a very thin tail, I call it a "remnant", as lynx have short, bobbed tails. She is very beautiful, big blue eyes and a lovely thick silvery, dark gray and cream colored coat (tortie?). Her trademark is her "hiss". Even after being together for five years, she will still hiss when I pick her up. She has snapped at times, but never really bites. She could do some serious damage if she wanted to, as I have never seen such large teeth and long claws on a cat! Have learned to give her her distance. She comes to me when she wants affection (which is often, just has to be on her terms). So she is part wild, can't change her nature, so just give her the space she needs. Loves to be outdoors, but strangely seldom strays outside the (large) yard, thankfully. I have seen her occasionally, however, sitting on the neighbors' porches on both sides of me! People ask me "why do you keep this awful cat?" Well, she is wonderful in my mind. She is very beautiful and exotic, affectionate and feisty, and has been a good companion. So imagine we will be together for a long time yet.

The weather is changing here and Big Bon out longer than usual in the yard. Is very wet and rainy. Meomie had to visit family and forgot! Bad Meowmie!! She is sneezing, but now resting comfortably by the hearth fire. Still has a good appetite, had dinner. I think she will be okay, but may give the vet a call tomorrow. :-(

Much better today.

BigBon just on wet food for now, I made a soup of her tuna canned food and she ate with good appetite. No more vomiting or diarrhea, thankfully! Found the Wellness kibbles and will try today just a little at a time to see if she can handle it.

Where is she anyway? Ahhhhh, outside on the deck...sunning. :-)

Awful new cat food, mom!

Bon out of her cat food a few days ago, so was off to the pet store to get her usual brand (which she really didn't like anyway). They were out, so got another supposed top brand and expensive. She has thrown up several times on it and with mild diarrhea. So taking it back today. Have been online all morning researching best thing for a cat with sensitive stomach. That is how I came upon this nice site and forum. :-) Found a natural pet store, so am off to see what they will recommend. Have found some top rated brands on websites, and those that keep coming up, Wellness, Felidae, Evo, Natural Balance, Orijen. Okay, time for serious decision making.
