Arrival Story:
One early morning around three am heard a cat crying around our apartment complex and waking up an hour later to help my signifcant other find his wallet before heading to work, I was greeted by a very verbal long hair cat happy to have someone open their door. Kissing my husband goodbye and petting the cat one last time thinking it would go back to protest for someone to open their door and let it in; it decided to go inside the apartment and make itself at home. Giving it water and letting it stay in the apartment cause the weather was hot and humid; it begged to go back outside during the evening. How well the cat appeared I assumed it had to be someone else cat and to my husbands sadness of not wanting to let go we let the cat out. The next morning as my husband returned home in the morning after an appointment and with his hands full of papers and equipment and direct field of vision blocked; he blindly open the door to not see the cat weasel its way back in the house and make itself home once again like it was waiting for him to return. Find it temporary food (tuna) and a box for it to 'relive' itself; I went in search of finding its owner around the area. No success for a week and though we kept an eye and ear out for anyone; we could safely say he adopted us. (This also includes a vet visit to make sure it was not microchip and up to date on shots)

Reading the story of how I/we became guardians to Popcorn; I refer to him as unisex. When we first obtained him, my husband thought and looked and assumed he was a female. Being so big I could not think of any other name but Dutchess. When we went to the vets though and beginning of the exam after being scanned for a chip we were surprised (and heartbroken) to find Dutchess was a Duke. My husband wanted to call him Crispy or Crunchy and while talking to my mother while we were waiting to have our cat returned to us from receving some tests in the back she suggested Popcorn after Popcorn Sutton the moonshiner (that my s/o probably has relations to). So being a 'southern boy' cat; Dutchess was then called Popcorn.
