Skippy Doo, Skippers

April 4th 1998

Arrival Story:
Well this kitty was born in BED with me~his mom, Skippy girl (with neighbors now)was a small girl..two weeks before, I saw HER carrying this buff colored THING in her mouth, which proved to be a rather large kitten, but it was dead. Two weeks later, not realizing that Skippy girl was STILL 'with kitten', she crawled into bed with me and we fell asleep. I awoke near 3:30 am, Mama was rolling, purring LOUDLY, and was lying on her back, happy. To my amazement, there was ANOTHER kitten! (I then looked at Mama Skippy and asked her if she was going to continue to do this to me for the next few months, every 2 weeks! :) As Mama Skip was rolling and purring, I picked the both of them up and placed them in a blanketed clothes basket while I CHANGED my bed. After a bit, mama cleaned off Skippy Doo, well enough that I took them BACK into bed w/me, as Mama Skip wasn't ready to nurse her I place Skip~Doo on her, near the teats...and Mama Skip continued this rolling/purring until neat 6am. Finally she got pooped out (lol), and decided that it was to HER advantage to feed the baby to lessed the milk that was gathering in ALL of her teats~ Skippy Doo proved to grasp his life, his 'momy's' teats, and he grew. AND he grew. AND then he grew some MORE, but his little feet never did quite CATCH up to the size of his rather roly poly body.

As of February 2, 2010 late afternoon I let Skippy outside~he usually goes in and out about 5-6 times, just enough to get a fresh breath of the vermont Cold air..and he'd scratch at the door like a dog to be let in. Plus, living on the second floor as well, we have a porch that isn't far from our Bay windows and the little landing under each one, so most days, winter OR summer~he would make a big jump and appear in the window! My other baby (eg: cat baby, lol: precious) would dart from window to window, to raise the flag that Skippy was ready to come inside. Skippy has been with us for near 11ish years~also growing up with Mama Kitty, and lastly with Precious, our BABY kitty (near 5 yrs old now). I have contacted every store, business, neighbor in the area re: Skip's unknown escape, which in itself is very odd for him as he tends to stick to just our yard, esp in the winter. Hating to be pessimistic, I dreaded this mornins' search, not wanting to find him dead on the road...yet our street, everyone knows Skippy, so we have a street PLUS radio listeners with their eyes and minds alerted to his being missing. I & my significant other, daddy Charlie, looked early this morning, then My cat friend Dory assisted me w/the house to house search... Keep Skippy in your prayers please!>?

In my absentMINDness, I apparently let Skippy out yesterday pm, as I was in and out with laundry (hanging and taking it down.)Now, that being said, skippy goes in, out, in out constantly esp in the winter~PLUS he scratches at the door like a dog, and he even resorts to a high jump over the porch to our bay windows' base, walking around that (yes it is outdoors :) ) area, scratching on the windows and making eye contact with myself or our younger cat, Precious, who then alerts us by a very sorrowful MROW, like she is asking me a question, in that same tone, to reitterate that someone's on the window again, maaaa.

I so hope and pray that he comes back! I really believe that one of two things happened
1) he COULD have been lured into a vehicle, he is JUST that friendly OR
2) he followed a neighbor, and may have slipped in unknown, fell asleep, and that person or persons may have gone to work this AM not knowing that he might have been IN their home,or even in their garage~Skippy HAS been known in the past, although usually in summer, to get himself into some real pickles...he followed my landlord into an unused part of the building, slipped in while he wasn't looking. Later that day, I/we discovered him being missing so we did what we usually do, run the street looking. then we came back to our yard, thinking that he MUST be in that area. I sat on the steps of the unused building and just happened to turn to look st the windows...there was SKippy....stretching and yawning, but he was locked in! We got the key.... years now later that part of the building is now renevated, so that old hiding place is NO more.
