Get me out of this jumpsuit!

For ten endless days, I have been wearing a straight-jacket. Mom calls it a jumpsuit, and said I wouldn't have to wear it if I would just leave my stitches alone. But REALLY, is it so wrong to want to lick them with my raspy little tongue? I just wanted to CLEAN THEM, for god's sake. And they itched so badly. For some crazy reason every time I licked them she would leap at me and stop me. I mean, Doctor sent me home naked, without one of those humiliating cones (thank god), so OBVIOUSLY that means I can lick my stitches. Anyway, my silly mom went and sewed me a "jumpsuit" (straight-jacket) and I've been sadly unable to lick through it. At least I can still run and jump and pounce, even though I look RIDICULOUS.
Today mom's boyfriend drove us to Doctor to get my stitches out. I like the boyfriend, he knows what's up. The first time I met him, he introduced me to the gourmet delicacy: Popeyes Chicken. DELICIOUS! My mom doesn't eat chicken or beef, can you believe it? crazy. When I tasted that yummy fried chicken, I knew that this guy eats the good stuff. I sniffed at mom's meal with curious disdain, and immediately dismissed it. I mean, I will try to eat her fish, her cheese, her yogurt, her ice cream... but not if there's Popeyes around. Anyway, I got off track- so I got my stitches out. Everything went great; Doctor said my incision has sealed. We arrived home and I was in high spirits, running around naked and free. I decided to go in for some innocent licking, and WHAT DO YOU THINK: mom puts the straight jacket back on. :/ Sigh. Oh well. I'm told it's only for a couple more days.

welcome to the jungle (to nature, anyway)

I watched tv for the first time today! It's always on, but it's never interested me before. Today mom was watching a PBS program about wolves in Yellowstone national park. It caught my eye, and my ears too. I started to watch those wild wolves howling and hunting, fighting and playing, and next thing you know, I was transfixed. I got into a more comfortable position, and I watched for twenty minutes! I hope to go to Yellowstone someday, but I'm a city cat, so... The truth is, I've never been outside. How embarrassing!

I had stinky breath today, so mommy took a look in my mouth and was shocked. some of my teeth are crooked! Mom said I have British teeth, can you believe her nerve!? I don't know what that means, but she was giggling...
It turns out my gums look a little red. She is going to start brushing my teeth! I don't like the sound of that at all.

Sometimes I sleep with my eyes open. I really don't know why.

My gosh I love to hear the sound of the refrigerator door open! I come racing into the kitchen and jump onto the counter so I can peep in from the side. What're we eating this time? Yogurt? Cheese? tuna? Halo dried chicken treats? mmm I hope so! whatcha got there? lemme see! lemme smell! WHAT? ORANGES! ewwwwww! You have betrayed me, mommy.

more is better

We've been visiting grandma and grandpa, which has been GREAT for me. Yesterday, mommy came home a little late and ran to feed me, feeling very guilty. She watched me eat for a few moments. Then, she went back into the kitchen and saw that I had opened up the toaster oven and taken out the baked salmon steak that grandma had left in there. I had eaten half of it! salmon oil and bits were trailing out the oven door and onto the floor. Mommy groaned and said, "Toki ate two dinners!" I seemed particularly pleased.
Today, mommy came home and fed me dinner, after checking to make sure nothing was out. Then later she found out that earlier in the day, grandma hadn't properly fastened a Tupperware container, and I had opened it up and ate what was inside- little dried anchovy fish (Korean stuff). So I ate two dinners again. Grandma doesn't know the special aby rules for putting away food.
This visit has been GREAT.

My stomach is a melting pot. I have eaten Japanese sashimi, southern fried chicken, Korean beef and fish, Italian and French cheeses, and Greek yogurt. Today I sampled some Irish Soda bread! I travel the world with a meow and a smile.

Tonight mommy and I are watching the Oscars. She thinks Sandra Bullock's Marchesa dress is beautiful. Me, I prefer being naked. We both thought the John Hughes tribute was great but should have been longer! Mommy grew up on John Hughes. If I was a John Hughes character, I would be Ferris Bueller: adorable, charming, smart, troublemaker. That's what mommy thinks, I'm actually sleeping on her bed under the blanket. ooo- Rachel McAdams dress is great too. Meryl Streep looks amazing, like Bette Davis in Now,Voyager.

no rest for the weary

I have been testing out new ways to wake up mommy at 5:30 am.
My usual way is to knock things off the desk with my paw. pencil cup, remote control, anything. Sometimes I get on top of her chest and purr and nuzzle her face. The other day I got on her chest and I pressed my paw on her mouth. Mommy laughed and asked if I was trying to suffocate her. She told her boyfriend about it, and he said that's what the little troll does in the eighties movie "Cat's Eye". True! And mommy does love that movie, but she knows it's me, not some evil troll. As if I would let a little troll run around here! I'd squash him in the dark. Anyways... this morning I stepped on her cheek. Twice.
I just want to play and get my breakfast a little early. Wake up you lazy mommy!

This morning I touched mommy's face with my paws. Then I sat behind her pillow and put my paws on either side of her head like it's a crystal ball.
"I see... a can of Wellness beef & chicken!"
