Arrival Story:
As I waited in the car while my son was in the Dept. of Motor Vehicles, I saw a tiny kitten struggle out from under the wheel well of a vehicle that had recently pulled into a parking space across from us. It was covered in grease and crying pitifully. Another woman and myself tried to catch the terrified kitten. The small one ran under the car and refused to come out. Then she climbed back up into the engine compartment. The owner of the car appeared and said he "would take care of it" by starting the car. We told him he would do no such thing, and while I stood between him and the driver's side door, the other lady managed to pull the kitten from the engine compartment. I took her home and gave her a flea bath. She went straight to the vet to be checked out. The receptionist remarked, upon hearing her story: "It's through the grace of the gods and goddesses that she is alive." At that moment her name revealed itself.

Bio:
Grace is a "different" sort of cat. She lives in our computer room, and is terrified of Goldie--we aren't certain why. Grace was in the family first, and all was well until one day we came home and found her living inside a recliner. She refused to re-enter normal life, and has lived in her own space ever since. Mis-tac has decided to live with her since the puppies have joined the family. Gracie loves music--especially when her Daddy plays guitar for her--and seems to see things that others of us cannot. On the day that her human brother legally became an adult, she became my heart angel.

My Door Is Now Open

Ever since the day I stood up to Goldie, I have been a much braver kitty. So brave, in fact, that I am now living with the door to my room OPEN. Yes, you are reading correctly--I no longer live behind a closed door!

Mama had a talk with me. She said, "Gracie, you are my heart angel. As my heart angel, I need you to trust me on this. I will put a tall baby gate across your doorway, and then we can leave the door open. That way the Little Girls cannot get in, and Miss Tac can come and go. Plus, all of the lovely heat from the floor furnace will circulate through your room, and we won't have the expense or worry of a personal space heater in here for another winter."

Well, I thought about it and purred "Yes, Meowmy--for you I will try this arrangement." So far it is going well. The Little Girls have not been in to torment me. Goldie & Frankie don't bother much with me since I don't give them the satisfaction of teasing me then watching me dissolve in a puddle. I DO NOT dissolve anymore!

Meowmy actually left my doorway this way while she was out of town. All us purr-babies were calm when she came home. No one traumatized anyone else--life is good! Perhaps someday I'll venture past the gate and into the house while Frankie and Goldie ARE INSIDE instead of on the kitty patio. . .we'll have to see.

What Ice Cream Flavor Would I Be, and Why?

My friend, Pigeon, tagged me with this query. I've had to think about it, 'cause there are just so many flavors in the world. Even though I don't get it very often, I LOVE ice cream!

If I were an ice cream flavor, I would probably be: pralines n cream.
It's predominantly white (like me), and filled with sweet surprises (like me). Plus, pralines are a "southern thang" (like me)!

Now, to tag some friends--
You'll know when you get the email!

I stood up to Goldie!

Goldie invaded MY space! Mama came in to check something on the 'puter, and the door didn't quite shut. That she-devil just pushed the door open and strolled right in--THE NERVE! She jumped up on the bookcase and sat right next to MAMA!

Usually I hide under the bed if she gets into my room. NOT THIS TIME--I WAS SOOOO MAD! I walked right up under where she was sitting and I GROWLED at her. Then, I HISSED at her. I DID NOT RUN AWAY FROM HER. I STOOD UP TO HER.

Well, Ms. Goldie-Bug didn't know what to do or how to take it. Her eyes got really wide and she just stared at me. Then she RAN out of MY ROOM! WHOO-HOO! Mama says that Goldie wants to be friends with me now. HA! I do not trust her. However, at least now I'm not quite as scared of her.
