Do you enjoy cats? And do you enjoy the idea of putting hats and mustaches and other stylish accessories on your cat? Well then mosey on over to the app store and download Photo Pooch, a new free app that allows you to fabulize your favorite kitty in a bunch of whacked-out ways.
Photo Pooch is a cinch to use: You simply select a picture of your cat and then drag a bunch of items from the bottom of the screen and place and resize them on your now-willing cat. (Extra items are available as in-app purchases, and a portion of profits goes to the Pennsylvania SPCA.)
Here’s a quick gallery of some regular Catster faces that I poochified.
1. Gentleman Jim (who lives with managing editor Vicky Walker)
It’s a classic Groucho Marx eyebrows, glasses, nose and mustache get-up for our managing editor’s first feline entry.
2. Thomas (who lives with Cat Dandy Keith Bowers)
The Cat Dandy’s companion looks dapper in his black leather cap and matching mustache.
3. Mimosa
My own cat Mimosa becomes Christmas card-worthy with the addition of some red festive antlers.
4. Phoebe, Angie Bailey’s pretty kitty
Phoebe plumped for a glitzy tiara and bow-tie to help celebrate Angie’s Cat Writers’ Association medal.
5. Maximilian Jeffrey III
With his thick-rimmed glasses and hearty beard, Maxi is one handsome hipster cat.
6. JiJi Bear
Brooklyn rooftop-scaler JiJi Bear channels a John Lennon-esque appeal with her round spectacles. The pigtails are a wildcard addition.
7. Ambrose Hoffman
Our managing editor’s second poochified feline embraces a wacky persona with this toy hat and Cheshire cat wide-grin combo.
8. Bodega Cat
This Brooklyn bodega cat holds secret ambitions to embark on a sea-faring Nordic adventure.
9. Cross-Eyed Wonder
A cross-eyed cutie that I spied outside a pet store plays off his disorienting gaze with a frankly disturbing set of gnashers.
