How to Name Your Cat

Naming your cat isn’t always as simple as just looking at their adorable face. Sometimes, it comes down to your personal preference and your cat’s personality.

If you’re struggling to figure out your new kitten’s name, give yourself time to get to know them. Their name needs to suit their character without making you feel embarrassed if you have to yell for them outside. You may even find inspiration from the way that they watch the rain or a moment when the sunlight touches their coat.

By taking the time to learn who your cat is, you’ll find it easier to match them with a name that suits them. When all else fails, consider asking friends and family for ideas!

Final Thoughts

If you’re a fan of Russia, have a Russian cat breed, or are of Russian descent, a Russian name is a way to acknowledge yours or your cat’s ancestry. Foreign names are also a good way to get away from common pet names that we hear all the time.

While there is nothing wrong with the simple approach, sometimes it’s nice to step out of your comfort zone and use a Russian cat name with a meaning that describes your pet to a T.
