We know the world of Star Wars is one of violence and explosions, of panic-inducing Imperial invasions and fearless rebel attacks, but what if it wasn’t always that way? What if a Stormtrooper, after a day of shooting his laser gun down Death Star hallways or across a flight bay as the Millennium Falcon powered up, got to come home and hug his cat?
Like this guy:
Can you handle this? My God, either that cat is about to die or it’s the cutest thing in the world.
Actually, it’s a little of both. In probably the best adoptable pet photoshoot we’ve ever seen, the Ottawa Humane Society invited the all-volunteer 501st Capital City Garrison to create a Star Wars-themed photoshoot with photographer Rohit Saxena. The group did it to get the word out about its adoptable pets and give the animals a better shot at finding forever homes.
About that 501st Capital City Garrison: It is, as you must be dying to know, the Eastern Ontario chapter of the 501st Legion, which is an all-volunteer international Star Wars costuming organization with more than 6,000 members representing more than 47 countries, according to its impressive site. Members lend their gloved, weaponized hands to charities when they can, and when the Ottawa Humane Society put the call out (hopefully via R2D2?), they responded in force. And in costume.
The results, as you can see, are quite noteworthy:
“This was all in the name of doing something a little different from our standard adoption pictures,” Saxena said, according to Upworthy. “Given the global, overwhelming response, I think we’ve made progress.”
