Arrival Story:
The last of two sisters who had these "sister" cats, passed away Jan 31. Within a few hours they arrived for me to foster. I'm glad to be the one to help them grieve, and learn to love and trust again. Since No-One was willing to adopt a 10/11 year old, more less 2 Sisters... I could hardly look into their stunning blue eyes and say... oh me either ;-) So we adopted them both and won't look back! After posting them everywhere (and leaving off how old they were), we still received few calls about adoption. Knowing they ALSO deserved a forever home together, my husband and I decided that we would keep them. Born April 1, 1998 in Minnesota, Dora and her sister Kay Cee moved to Tucson. Lois owned KayCee and her daughter (Caroloine) owned Dora. They found homes and lived across the street from each other and the cat were about to vist back and forth. Unfortunately Lois passed away which left her kitty KayCee in need. Not to Worry - KayCee's Sister lived only across the street so they were reunited in the same home again! Then tradgey struck these 2 sister cats again. Dora's mom passed away and the family needed someone to take the together - Arrival of Casa De Los Cato's who called me to foster = knowing I do take older cats and also how to help them live through their grieving - Yes Dora Grieved SO hard I thought we'd lose her! After 2 weeks of loving, sleeping with them both in a separate bedroom, she turned around and enjoyed eating again and was my special girl from that day forth.

***New Note - October 2011 I was told to take Dora home (after an xray) and make her "comfortable" WHAT??!!! Her bladder was misshapen and that vet knew what I was NOT ready to hear. I had a second opinion and they did a sonogram and tried to get a needle biopsy on her Upper Wall Bladder cancer :-( I was told to give her whatever treats she wanted, it didn't matter it wouldn't be long. Well they don't know me! She got 1000mg IV nightly and got great at sitting on the bathroom counter still and being combed. There were many food treats, dry and wet as every 2 hours I would scoop her up and tempt he with more food. Near the end of December, she got pickier about eating, but I wasn't giving up! I found she liked Baby Food Veal in juice (NO onions or Onion Powder LOOK out for this) - Organic is good. Ham and ham juice, and the vet said to up her fluid intake to keep up with her rapid growing cancer. We make it until Jan 11!!!! While my life was Dedicated to the every 2-3 hour tempting of food, IV fluids nightly, dog pads where she loved to give me the most Amazing snuggles at night, her own box so I could mark intake and output - A few days before her passing she began to refuse food. Up at the crack of dawn I cooked her absolute favorite - BACON!! You know - they say you will KNOW when it is their time -- You do - they tell you with their eyes. She was done fighting a VERY good fight and I made the appointment and thanked her so much for giving me the more than 2 months of extra special loving, as she went to see her previous meow-mom in my arms. She knew I also loved her very much. The vet remarked that the cancer had not only kept going, her rib cage expanded, I guess she knew I needed MORE time to accept her passing and together we maxed out her time.

Bladder Tumor found

November 23 Ultra-sound

Meow mom took me to a special vet that did an ultra-sound and tried to get a biopsy (needle biopsy). They saw a tumor in my bladder.

I am going to be MISSED by my friend Sandy/Sandia, my sister KayCee and my Meow Mom. I sleep on her arm every night checking her pulse to make sure she does not leave me like my previous mom! I love curing up on her arm, wrapping a back foot, sometimes a front foot into her hand.

Getting pain meds and Sub-Q fluids, I get to eat ALL the canned treats I want now, but sometimes I don't feel like eating. I like sleeping in Papa's chair and listening to my meow mom sew, that noise is soothing.

Lost a little weight, but they are trying to keep my fluids good and even give me a taste of baby food to tempt me to eat more. I am LOVED and happy for every extra day I get now.
