I haven't heard of kittens having any particular "smell", but if it's an unpleasant one, they could be sick. Your best bet would be to seek out a humane shelter/organization or a vet and have them checked out. If they are that young, they need very special and patient care and it requires a bit of training by someone who's done it before. Good luck! Purrs for the babies.

Calypso (In Loving Memory)

At 4 wks. the kittens are not cleaning themselves yet. The mother cat would normally be doing this up to and perhaps even after the kittens are weaned. I suggest that two or three times a day you take a slightly damp (NO soap) terry cloth (slightly rough like a cat's tongue) and very gently wipe the kittens down, at the end of the wipe down pay special attention to their private parts and make sure they are clean.
