Twitching tail / lower back area, Hiding in dark area's, whats wrong with her ?

Chloe is About 3-4 years old. a week ago i noticed her running around twitching her tail and lower back. i saw that she had hardend poo matter stuck on her furr. i removed it , she went back to her normal self. Until tonight, she looks very nervous, tail / back side wont stop twitching, i checked her for fleas, ticks. poo matter , cant find anything. when i touch the base of her tail, she freaks out. she has been hiding under my dresser, bed where ever she fit into shes hiding in it. shes normally a very loveable cat, she loves attention. shes not herself right now and im extreamly concerned. what can be causeing this?

Take her to your vet and ask about impacted anal glands, These are small glands on either side of her anal opening that can become infected and impacted occasionally. It hurts like heck and can make her want to hide and change her personality because she's in pain. The "fix" is simple if that's what it is. Those glands just need to be squeezed out. Sounds gross, but she'll feel a lot better afterwards! If she has hard stools, that can also cause her pain. Ask your vet what they feel is the best thing to give Chloe as a stool softener. Your vet may also want to do an x-ray to make sure that Chloe's back wasn't injured somehow.

What ended up being the problem? My cat seems to be having the same symptoms right now.
