Our senior cat is still not getting along with the our rescued cat. Its been 4 months now.
My senior cat Choopee is 14+ and 4 months ago we rescued a 5 week old kitten, Milo. He still tries to play with Choopee everyday, but he only gets hissed at or swiped (which does nothing to Milo cos he still thinks they are playing). Choopee has changed since. He is cranky, always growling and hissing, sometimes even at me. What should i do!?

It's obvious that Choopee is not a happy camper. He had you all to himself for a long time and now is forced to accept an interloper and rival for your affection. The kitten is active, annoying and a giant pain in Choopee's furry little you know what. Choopee needs some space and time to accept this little one. Distract Milo as much as you can by playing with him. This will also tire him out. Do not let him harrass Choopee. As the kitten matures, he'll probably get the message and leave the old gent alone as much as possible, but Choopee should be allowed to age with dignity and not be tormented by a young whipper-snapper. Love on Choopee as much as he'll allow. If he is in a hissy-swipey mood, just talk to him and tell him what a good kitty he is and how much you love him. Give him plenty of his favorite treats. Make sure he doesn't have to share a litter box or food bowls with the young 'un. Speak with your vet for more advice. Milo is a cutie pie!

Try spending time with just Choopee and see if that helps. Senior cats never take to younguns well
