My dad has a cat that is a real love, but he is bothered by her lack of purring...Is it common for her not to purr??

I knew a cat who never purred.. I was told it was because she had been taken away from her birth too soon to learn how to purr. I don't know if that's true..she had a very quiet voice and rarely meowed also. Other than that she was a happy cat.

Yes and No. Some of my cats purr all the time. As for others they won't. Sometimes it takes them a while to purr. It just depends on your cat. I personally don't think its that big of a deal.

If your dad wants a cat to purr, have you thought of getting another cat to purr? Maybe it'll pick up purring, and then you might possibly have two cats that purr.

we used think my kitty alexis never purred, eventually we found that she does purr but her purr is so soft u cant hear it. it could be that the cats purr is soft. I dont think its a big deal anyway.

Has she ever purred before? Some cats never purr, but they may do other things that let you know when she is content or whatever. It's the same with kneeding, some cats do it constantly while other never pick up on it. You just have to know your cat.
