When you bring a new cat home and you already have another, you HAVE TO KEEP THEM SEPARATED!!! You can't just let the new cat loose in the house. Keep the new cat is it's own room with a litter box, food and water. Twice a day or so, let the resident cat into the room and let the new cat out without having them meet. They will explore each other's scents, etc. Then, introduce them SLOWLY. You can also call your vet on how to do this the best way. Your resident cat is protecting his/her territory from the new cat. It will take time to convince her/him that you can love them both, but you will need help, preferably from your vet on how to do this the best way.
