My cat has lost a tooth - should I be worried?
My cat is 3 years old. I have just noticed he has lost one of his teeth towards the back. He has been off his treats for a week or so but seems to be eating his normal food still - is this something I should be worried about? There is a lot of fighting between cats on the street and he often comes back with scratches etc... could he have lost a tooth in a fight?

It's very unusual for a cat to lose a tooth at such a young age. He needs to see a vet to check for infection or dental disease. Also, letting your kitty roam outdoors is very dangerous - he not only risks severe injury from the fighting but fatal disease as well - feline leukemia, feline immunovirus, and rabies are all transmitted through bites and/or scratches. Not to mention the high possibility of being hit by a car or mauled by an animal. Is there any way you can keep him indoors?
