Twice per day is generally recommended, but I feed my cats canned food 3 times per day, because I believe that cats shouldn't go more than 12 hours without food. They eat full meals at 7am and 5pm, and a smaller meal at 9pm. This works really well for us. They are always eager to eat at mealtimes, and they don't ever seem like they're overly hungry. Your needs may vary according to your schedule and what your particular kitten needs to grow and maintain a healthy weight.
