Does anyone know if norwegian forest cats can be short haired?

The kitten we purchased we were told was half norwegian, but she has a short coat, however, she has huge paws, very pointy ears with tufts, and generally more fluffy around the neck, however she's not fully grown yet so its hard to tell. She has a very sleek build, stripes on her legs and tail, but dots on her stomach. We are unsure whether she is just a genenric tabby Cat, or of some form of breed. Our vet suggested she was going to be a huge cat, and she is big for her age, she's 4 months.

If anyone could shed some light that would be brill!!

It's difficult to tell without a photo, but even with one, it would only be our best guess. It's quite possible your baby may be a Maine Coon mix which seem to be more common than NFC. My Izzie is also an MC mix and weighed 12# at 5 months. Now he's up around 17. He's sleek, medium haired and a total brat. Lizzie, on the other hand, was identified as a definite MC/torti mix. She has all the halllmarks of a Maine Coon but is tiny.
Why not join Catster and post photos? We LOVE baby pictures and then we can all confuse you even further with our guesses! 8o)
