Cat Quit Using Litter Box

Sorry, I tried to respond to all the answers, but couldn't find the reply button. I actually posted a question about this a few days ago and you guys helped me sooooooooooo much. I did what many people said, I washed the cat boxes (even though I keep them free of cat stuff, I have NEVER emptied them and washed them out with soap and water). I never knew that they would shun these like that as long as they were kept cleaned out. But it was enough for Hobbes to shun it and use the floor instead. Well, after I scrubbed them out, I put the kitty litter back in and Hobbes started using it again!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
