can cats defend itself from a raccoon or fox i saw a red fox fought a cat that i think was domestic short hair

the american short hair is a neigbor of our new house were going to move soon she has male cat 12 0r 15lbs. she lets him go out all the time she thinks cats should go out there animals that have one life i told her i belive what she said but still dangures to let them go out like a dog can kill your cat. are you afriad she said yes but she belives her cat way to smart to go near or even see a dog. she said her cat is a fighter one timeit fought a raccon and almost killed it. she found the raccon badly hurt so she called animal control and took her to there as well to make sure he was fine but the raccoon was badly hurt. her cat is called rocky because he is a fighter

A lot of people believe that cats should be outside. My son is one of them. His cat is one of the lucky ones (so far). Cole is about 9 and goes outside every day. You can't change her mind about leaving her cat outside. You can politely suggest to her that if the cat is not neutered she needs to do that. And if he's not up to date on his shots, he should have them as well. She's probably very "proud" of the fact that the cat can defend itself outside. She's probably not someone who wants a cuddly lapcat. When you move, have you considered volunteering at an animal shelter? I think you'd be a great volunteer!
