Not all friendships make sense, especially in the feline world. My cat Bubba Lee Kinsey, for example, is best friends with my boyfriend’s smelly shoes, and my other cat, Phoenix, is madly in love with his dirty laundry.
As is the case with most inexplicable relationships, the pushing of boundaries and broadening of horizons can end up being a good thing, leading to amazing cat-on-sloth snuggle sessions, for starters. Check out these kitties who ignored the threat of stranger danger and made some weird, wonderful friends.
Apparently Prince the sloth loves hugging and kissing cats — especially her best friend, Daisy. Lucky for us, the duo was caught cuddling on camera. I’ll bet that sloth’s talons make for the most incredible chin scritchies that cat has ever experienced.
This magical interspecies cuddle session features air biscuits and headbutts set to “1234” by Feist, along with both participants gazing longingly into the camera. I’m pretty sure the whole thing was shot through some kind of “guilt-free lazy summer afternoon” filter. Seriously, I want to go to there.
“It might look like this dog’s days are over,” this video begins. “But things are not always what they seem.” Turns out Bullet the Jack Russell Terrier and Jag the jaguar are actually inseparable pals, spending their days together at a sanctuary in South Africa.
According to this video, Fum the black cat and Gebra the friendly barn owl have been playing together their whole lives, with the cat trying to swat the owl out of midair before the owl swoops in for a snuggle. I want to see a miniseries about these two solving crimes.
Nature dictates that cats and birds should be enemies, but as this cat-crow duo demonstrates, friendship could totally beat nature in a fight. The tale of this unlikely pairing is told by the elderly couple who watched the whole thing unfold from their front porch, and it is adorable. Happy Friday.
