The Cutest Cats with Boots Are Ready for Anything

These pictures show how boots prepare cats for a hike, a snowstorm, a stumble, or a fashionable nap.

Angela Lutz  |  Aug 31st 2015

No matter what day of the week it is, the weekend is never more than five days away. It can be difficult to maintain this perspective after rolling out of bed on a Monday morning, still groggy, confused, and shuffling like a zombie to the coffee pot — but the one accessory that can instantly improve any outfit — and any mood — is a good pair of boots.

If you’re having one of those days where hiding in a sheet fort feels preferable to going to the office, high-heeled boots can instantly boost your confidence. Metal-studded black leather boots can help you get ready to kick some ass before a big presentation. Even if your work uniform consists of a red polo shirt and khakis, the right pair of boots can add a little extra spring to your step — especially if you’re also secretly wearing your favorite pair of colorful cat socks.

Need a little inspiration? These 10 cats wearing boots (some natural, some … less so) are ready to take on the day — well, either that, or they’re ready to nap while you take on the day. Regardless, they’re guaranteed to look good doing it (for the most part).

1. Puss in Boots

This handsome black-and-white kitty shows off his little white boots year round — and no one can get mad at him for wearing his shoes in the house.

2. Boots Too Big for Your Feet

This less-than-jazzed black Persian cat seems unsure how to handle life with his new, um, haircut. The good news, of course: He looks like he’s wearing fuzzy black boots. The bad news: Please, no one tell him that style is so 2012. He’s already having a bad enough day.

3. Kitty Wears Booties, Forgets How to Walk

This snapshot looks like a top contender for “most awkward family photo,” especially because this couple’s furry feline friend is wearing little booties, for some reason. After watching literally hundreds of cat videos in my lifetime, I can say with a fair degree of certainty that these tiny booties might cause this cat to temporarily (and hilariously) forget how to walk.

Unlike Antonio Banderas’ memorable character in Shrek, this tiny kitty cat needs only one boot to get out and face the day. It’s entirely possible someone may need to carry her from place to place — but with a face like that, there will be no shortage of eager volunteers. In fact, sign me up right now! Never mind that I have to work — it can wait.

5. Finding a Cat in Your Stocking

This ginger tabby looks right at home in this ornate, holiday-themed velvet boot. And hey, the boot is as floofy as the kitty! These are the kinds of shoes I’d want to wear indoors, probably without socks.

6. Happy Kitties > Happy Feet

My cat, Bubba Lee Kinsey, has a foot fetish — his favorite place to sleep is on the shoe pile by the front door. And his absolute favorite shoes are my boyfriend’s stinky work boots, where Bubba Lee will curl up for hours, purring and smiling. Yes, cats can smile — and these two grinning kittens hogging these boots offer further evidence that a pair of good boots can satiate any feline foot fetish.

On a semi-related note, the human who owns these boots is not leaving the house today, because would you want to be the one to tell these sweet baby kitties to move?

7. Kitten Doesn’t Care About Your Snowstorm

It’s a fact that my cats live in an insulated, beautiful world where the temperature is always 78 degrees and the path to the couch is always clear. The reality for us humans, however, is a little different — sometimes it requires heavy-duty snow boots to get out and face the day. This adorable kitten does not care that her owner needs to wear the right boot as well as the left boot. I mean, can’t you see that she’s comfortable? (Plus, if you move her, there’s no telling whether she might steal the boots later) Try these boots again tomorrow, please.

8. Calico Cat Doesn’t Care About Your Hiking Boots

Oh, so you wanted to go hiking today, did you? The crisp fall air was calling your name, and you couldn’t wait to lace up your favorite hiking boots and hit the trail. Well, your calico cat doesn’t care. Your cat is napping on your boots right now; that’s how little she cares. She’s napping on your boots, and she’s really mad that you woke her up to take this picture, so can’t you just wear a different pair of boots so she can continue her nap already?

9. Kitty Rocking a Pair of White Waders

This cute kitty proves that not all cats wearing boots are created equal. While some cats’ furry feet only resemble impractical yet stylish ankle boots, this ginger tabby is rocking full-on thigh-high waders. He’s ready to go fly fishing and catch something tasty for dinner!

10. No Matter the Season, Cats Wearing Boots Are Always Hot

Oh, the “lion cut.” It comes when you try to shave your cat yourself. This kitty’s haircut makes her the feline equivalent of those chicks who wear giant, furry boots with their skinny jeans and/or yoga pants. You’ve probably seen this kitty at your local Starbucks, ordering a double-skinny caramel macchiato with no whipped cream. No matter the season, this cat wearing boots is definitely ahead of the fashion curve.
