Dean Nicholson is a Scottish adventurer, author, and social media personality best known for his inspiring journey around the world on a bicycle accompanied by a stray cat named Nala.

Born in Scotland, Dean worked as a welder before deciding to leave his job in 2018 to pursue a life of travel. He set off on a cycling trip across the world,  documenting his experiences online. His journey took a remarkable turn in Bosnia when he encountered an abandoned kitten. He rescued her, named her Nala, and the two quickly became inseparable travel companions.

Together, Dean and Nala cycle through multiple countries, capturing the hearts of millions on platforms like Instagram and YouTube under the name “1 Bike 1 World.” Their story stands out not just for its adventure but for its themes of kindness, companionship, and resilience.

Dean later authored a book, Nala’s World, which chronicles their travels and the bond they formed. He has also used his platform to support animal welfare causes, raising awareness and funds for stray and abandoned animals worldwide. In 2025, he further expanded this mission by founding a charity called Nala’s Ark, dedicated to promoting TNR, taking part in rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming vulnerable animals, as well as supporting local shelters and communities in need.

Today, Dean is recognised as a symbol of modern exploration, showing that a simple decision to travel can turn into a life-changing journey filled with unexpected connections.
