Why do my cats sniff my eyelids?

This forum is for cat lovers seeking everyday advice and suggestions on health-related issues. Remember, however, that advice on a public forum simply can't be a substitute for proper medical attention. Only your vet can say assuredly what is best for your cat.

They do this when I am asleep or half asleep. I suspect that they are trying to figure out if I'm dead or not (and I'm a bit worried about what they would do if they figured out that I actually was dead). Ideas?

My brother Woody does this to Mom on a daily basis! Mom thinks that it may be because pollen and other particles become attached to the eye lashes or brows. But who real knows? Woody is a very unique kitty!kitty

Heidi sniffs my eyelids, too. It's annoying sometimes, but pretty cute, too. I have no idea why.
