	Mew.. My name is Pike and I am 10 months old. My Mommy noticed my nose was turing white, it is usually bright pink and she decided to keep an eye on it. About two weeks latter, I was playing with my feather toy and I got very out of breath. Mommy did not like that. Even though Mommy's car was broken, she walked me down the street in my carrier to the vet. I did not like that too much, it was noisy and there were dogs. The vet put a cold round thing on my chest, I hid in Mommy's lap. The vet said I had an irregular heart beat so she took me from Mommy and I had an EKG and X-Ray. The vet told Mommy I have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. I don't really understand it but I know it is making Mommy and Daddy very sad. Vet says I have to go back for a ultra sound on Thursday. I don't mind too much as long as vet gives me more treats and mouse toys. Mommy took me home and will not let me play with my feather toy. She does not let me chase my little sister Lacy around the house either. All I want to do is rough play again and see Mommy and Daddy happy.

	Cassidy. My Mommy and Daddy are from Harford County. They live in Tucson now and found me there. I saw your profile and I am very silly during Ravens games, especially the playoffs. I like to bat the ball on the TV. Mommy and Daddy think it is very funny, I just want to make sure the defense gets the ball back for us!!

	Thank you for all the mews and purrs. My Mommy took me to the vet yesterday for my ultra sound. Vet also did a Thyroid test just in case and it came back ok. There was an older kitty there who was a bad influence on me. Mommy was not too happy when she picked me up and I hissed at her. I learned that is a bad thing to do I got lots off attention when I got home and spent all night curled up with my Mommy, Daddy and my sister Lacy. Mommy has to go out of town for work and she will help me write more when she gets home on Sunday.

	Hi Pike! I'm sorry you have HCM. I was about your age when I was first diagnosed with it. I am now 15 and have been taking meds since I was 2. Did your vet prescribe anything for you? If you haven't seen a cardiologist or an internal medicine specialist yet, I highly recommend it. HCM is scary but it can also be managed well. You could still have many more years of mischief making ahead of you. Tell your meowmy to join one of the feline heart groups here on Catster or one of the ones on Yahoo. 	I was diagnosed at one year old. I take atenolol, 1/4 tab 2 times a day, and I am doing well. I am going for another ultrasound on the 25th to see if things have stayed the same or gotten worse. I know Mom sometimes double checks on me when I am sleeping and worries alot, but from many things we have read, a kitty can do well with this disease. Once you have the testing and are on medication, you should feel alot better too. I get to play like any cat, but Mom won't let it get too out of hand (mol) There is a cat Bumpurr on this site that we learned alot from also. There is tons of info on the heart groups too. Take things one step at a time, that is what we do. Purrs, Tigger
