Thanks for purring for Lola. She still isn't doing well.

Her mouth is better and her congestion is much better -- those problems were helped by the steroid she had about a week ago. But she still won't eat on her own. Mom is feeding her every couple of hours and getting a good amount of food in her, but she continues to get weaker.

Mom knows there is something else going on now, and the vet thinks Lola has now encountered something she can't overcome, although nothing has been apparent from her recent blood tests (another vet also looked at them and even ran more tests when she was in emergency a couple weeks ago).

Lola will go to the vet in the morning for new blood tests and be put on IV fluids (with antibiotics and any supplements needed based on her tests), and probably x-rays to see if there are any clues about what is going on. Mom and Dad will decide what to do after that. Lola's vet cannot do ultrasound, so Lola would have to go to a specialist clinic for that, if needed.

Lola still need purrs.

Here's some information about why blue-eyed cats have red eye in photography (it's the same reason that humans have red eye in flash photos -- I'm not sure it's as simple as the explanation given here, but something like this):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odd-eyed_cat

Here is a discussion on Flickr about photographing blue eyes:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/blue_eyed_dog/discuss/137294/

Not sure that will help much, but hope it helps a little! The "red eye" is different than the "glowing eyes" that all cats get, so you can have both problems photographing blue-eyed cats.

It means someone went to a new line in their comment, when they hit the "enter" or "return" key on the keyboard. For some reason it shows up as an "m" on diary and photo comments when you receive those comments in your email. I think "mm" is a double line space

like this.

Icebox was always there to help anyone with technical questions, whether it was in her own group, Pawsome Pages, here in the forums or if you pawmailed her with a problem. She would help!

Icebox liked to have a good time, too. Not too many outside of the Olde Furts group would know this, but she liked to streeeeeeeeeeeeeak through The Olde Furts Home at the most unexpected times.

Catster is better because of Icebox and all of Catster is gonna miss her.
My deepest sympathy to Icebox's family, I know you're going to miss her most of all. hug hug

Please keep purring for Calvin and all the sick kitties.

I don't know if this would be any better than any of the all-purpose "kitty wipes," but what about the "eye wipes" that are supposed to remove tear stains? ("Cynical" Mom wonders if kitty wipes for various kitty parts are all the same, they just put different names on them so you buy one of each.) You can buy them at PetSmart or Petco. I don't see why you couldn't use them on other parts, too. If they actually remove stains around the eyes, maybe they would remove other stains?

The kitty wipes work fairly well, if you use them regularly. They may not do much that's noticeable in just one use, but over time, I think they help, even with clumping and matting that's a result of dirt build-up from lack of grooming. "earthbath" (www.earthbath.com) is a brand that is supposed to be "totally natural and good for the planet." You may not be able to get it at the big chains, though. Mom got some at a local pet store, $9 for 25 ear wipes -- pricey! shock

When I first came to live with Mom and Dad, my fur was stained and stiff wherever I groomed because my mouth was so full of infection. Kitty wipes helped my fur until we could get my rotten teeth out!

Cat Health > silly question?

Yes, cats can get asthma and there are treatments and even inhalers for it, if needed. Hairballs do not make cats actually "cough." If it's a cough, your cat should be checked by a vet.

If you have the capability of taking video and sound with your camera, you could record your cat coughing to show the vet, so they can see and hear it. Don't show them a 10-minute movie, though -- edit it to the important part. Also make note of whether something triggers the cough, how often it happens, how long it lasts, how your cat acts afterward, etc., so you can tell the vet as much as possible about it.

Others who know something about asthma (I don't!) will no doubt be along with good information.

Bumpurr, anytime something has been covered in these forums, you can do a "quick search" for it. Go to the top of any forums page, find the small orange "quick search" box, type in a word or short phrase you're looking for, then click "go" next to the orange box. It will bring up all the posts with that word or phrase in them (it highlights the phrase in yellow), with a link to the original thread the each post is in.

You could try a quick search for 'omega 3'.
