I feel terrible because I spooked him with my blow dryer to make him stay off the counters and knowing Oscar is a six month old cat, hes not a baby, that he'd just run away, and it's not the first time he's seen my blow dryer, we had to wash him a few times. So yeah it wasn't close to him at all and didn't burn him in the least he just was distracted and backed up too far without realizing where the edge was. He's almost got to my straightener by climbing on the counter so I thought it would make him stay off if he got scared. I cried for a long time I felt so bad, I had no mal intentions. But yeah Oscar seems to be doing well and I read if there are no serious symptoms after the first four hours then it's a pretty safe bet that nothing else will go wrong. I mean I know cats are good at hiding things but I think if something was wrong he wouldn't be sprinting back and fourth for his toy, he is very fast and isn't delayed or completely missing the toy. Still going to monitor him closely.

So unfortunately for now he can't stay in the room. I am monitoring him carefully though and if his eyes don't improve by tomorrow I will call the vet. I'll let you know he looks tomorrow, wish me luck and pray for Oscar!

| Purred: Mon Nov 9, '09 5:50pm PST | | | | | | Well I called VCA and they were like "well is he okay?" then asked if I could bring him in and I said yes but then my mom talked me out of it, saying if it was a concussion they couldn't do anything but tell me to monitor him anyways, seeing as it wasn't really a harsh fall and there was no severe blow to his head, he just kinda bumped it on something. The counter is probably like 3 and a half feet tall. His bed is outside my room in the hallway and I'm checking on him frequently and he's acting completely normal. After he calmed down from being scared (it was my blowdryer) I tested him to make sure he was okay and he was chasing his toy around like nothing even happened. He's the same way now and it's been about 3 hours. It happened around 5:30-6. | | | | |

| Purred: Mon Nov 9, '09 5:40pm PST | | | | | | My cat oscar fell off of our bathroom counter because he got spooked and I think he bumped his head on our toilet paper holder. One pupil is significantly larger than the other. I googled this a lot and realized it's a sign of a concussion. However, he isn't dizzy at all, he's very alert, plays with his toy with great agility and precision and he doesn't really have any of the symptoms of a severe concussion. I think he might of just attained a small bump and maybe a very mild concussion. However being a mommy to him I'm still scared as hell and I need much reassurance. We are monitoring him frequently and he's still acting very alert and knows what he's doing and like I said isn't falling asleep, woozy, etc. Is he going to be okay?? | | | | |

| Purred: Sat Jul 18, '09 8:00pm PST | | | | | | From Oscar's mommy: I was wondering, why does my kitten stare at me so much? I know it's not an issue it just really boggles me. He sits by my dresser and just looks at me, only when I am laying down and watching t.v. Sometimes he has giant hunting pupils, and sometimes they are normal. He hardly blinks, he just... stares. >O.O< Can anyone tell me as to why he is doing this?! Hehe. | | | | |
