Wow, I don't think it would be ignoble, either, to take advantage of the shelter's low-cost spay/neuter offerings. It is there to help the public spay and neuter and keeps more unwanted pets from being born.

Best of luck finding good homes for your babies!

Rescue, Adoption & Happy Endings > Questions about becoming a foster ...

We haven't been fostering long, but have learned one valuable lesson:

If you have several rescue groups/shelters to choose from, do some research and foster for the one you feel most comfortable with how well they screen adopters. Find out as much as possible about their adoption procedures - the application, and if someone goes over it carefully with the person BEFORE they are given a pet. Witness an adoption during busy summer kitten season if possible, and ask questions. Be wary of groups that let people walk up and take pets home right away, no matter how many forms and contracts they have to fill out. Many groups ask for vet references etc. and have a waiting period so these could actually be checked if the screening person wanted to. It is rewarding to let your fosters go to their forever homes when you feel that it will be a good home, but very hard emotionally to see them going to an iffy-looking situation and you find out that the screening they assured they do, doesn't take place.

If you have a choice of who to foster for, support the organization whose screening procedure you are most comfortable with, so more animals can be adopted out by this organization. way to go

Rescue, Adoption & Happy Endings > Adopting an abused cat?

Daemon (in- memory)

Got hand? Pet- me!

We adopted an abused/neglected kitty. Daemon was 5-7 years old and also declawed which probably made abuse even more traumatic for him. At first, he would run from us if we were standing, but love on us and lay on us if we were lying down or sitting. If he saw anyone walking towards him, he would run. He was more afraid of men, so we figured maybe a male abused him. We did not seek him out when he would hide, we would always ignore him and let him come to us. He gradually improved over the course of several years. He remained timid but was very loving and sweet, and great with other cats. He always knew when one of us humans was sick or in pain, and would stay with that person, purr, lick, etc. trying his best to help. I would say he was very grateful! He died this spring at an old age, we miss him very much!

The pictures on my page are all between 9 months and 1 year old. I was feral and had at least one short-haired sister. I have little ear tufts they just dont show up in all the pics. Mommy things I might be part MC, because of my face, ears, and cute little voice. I'm still growing, my paws are now huge! What do you think?

Catster Lifestyle & Entertainment > Songs about cats!

Oh Sable if you like Queen maybe you've heard of Jethro Tull? Ian Anderson is a big huge cat lover! smile

Jethro Tull songs about cats that I can think of are "Mouse Police" and "Hunt By Numbers".

Ian's recent solo CD, Rupi's Dance, is more laid back and the title track is about a young black kitten. Also on the CD is a song "Old Black Cat" about his cat that died, I assume before he got the new kitten.
