Butterscotch, we are new to this and just learning. We were told to give some food, wet or dry(prescription food) before the shot and then a little bit afterward.
I think our vet said not to give insulin on an empty stomach. I will be looking for your post since we are new at this too. Me, Sparky, is not young, around 13 years old.wink

hug We posted this in one of our groups last night. We are so very, very sad. Barbaro and Eight Belles and Ruffian, we hope you are running free and without pain. I swore I would never watch that race after last year and did not, but heard about Eight Belles later in the day. Interesting that it was not made a big deal of until later in the day.hug Horses may like to run, but not in those conditions.cry

Josie, I had had those shots for several years but this year, I did the same thing as you. For a day I did not want to eat and just hid. Mom called the vet and they said give it a day. I did come back to normal. Mom is considering not getting the rabies for me since I am older and never go out. That is a lot of stuff going through our bodies and you can insist they split them up into 2 different times.
