There are a lot of children here who have set up pages for their pets. For THEIR sake please tell HQ. Imagine a child getting the same obsene pmail that you have gotten. This individual needs to be banned from catster/dogster.

| Purred: Mon May 25, '09 7:06am PST | | | | | | You know what's missing on Catster? A help area just for the new furrs. Like a threat that says "Are you new here - read this" or something like that. And everybody who creates and account on catster/dogster should be directed exactly to that threat and it should be a place where the furrs can ask all kinds of questions. Because everything is new to them when they first come here. It would be so much more fun for them if some of the more experienced furrs could take them by the paw and help them out. A lot of other special interest websites/blogs have a help threat dedicated to new members.
Whoops, I wrote all this and then checked and yes, there are 2 threats all the way on the bottom here for new furrs "New to Catster" and "Tips, Ticks & Help on Catster". Those should be moved up by HQ so that furrs actually see them when they come to the Forum.

| Purred: Sun May 24, '09 9:37pm PST | | | | | | Hi cats. I have just been reading thru this threat and I agree. It has been more quiet lately. When we (brofur and I) first came to Catster, we joined a group that was not active at all. Nobody meowed for days and all the messages were old. We were actually able to remove ourselves from the group and a day later the group name was also gone from our pages. I think on the group page we went to the bottom where is says Group Administration, and we clicked on "remove a member".
What we like about Catster is that it's family friendly, nothing inappropriate for a 7 year old, the cats here are so friendly and helpful. (Even the dogs are friendly, MOL). If somebody needs help, lots of furrs usually rally around the cause. We learned alot and got lots of great tips on food and health and things in the forums. Also we like that it's safe here. HQ and the admins usually watch out that nofurr shares purrsonal information, like our real address and things.
We are not on Facebook or MySpace. Our hooman is usually pretty careful about what info she gives out over the internet. She is kinda old fashioned that way. We just wouldn't feel safe on FB. I didn't even know that cats could have FB or MS pages. We have only been here since Dec. 30th. So we don't know what it was like a year ago.
We love Catster! | | | | |

And if I eat food with alot of grain I really pack on the pounds. But I am not very active. I don't really do much. Just like to lounge around. So, good advice from Loki. Every cat is different.

| Purred: Fri May 22, '09 8:01pm PST | | | | | | Keep in mind that the feeding recommendations on the wet cans are usually too high. We don't eat as much as is recommended on the cans. I have lost a ton of weight since I stopped kibble and eat all wet food now. Well, not a ton, more like two pounds. But that's alot for a cat. | | | | |

| Purred: Thu Mar 12, '09 7:56pm PST | | | | | | I would also recommend slowly reducing the dry food more and more and then cutting it out all together. I went from 11.5 to 16 pounds in 9 months eating dry food only (no, I was not pregnant). Dry food made me fat and constipated I don't get dry anymore. Not one kibble.
Oh yeah, once you stop feeding dry you should remove it totally from the house because I could smell it and I would beg for it when it was in the house. Good luck with your weight loss.

| Purred: Sat Mar 7, '09 11:59am PST | | | | | | If you put out wet food, does he eat it all at once? I give mine wet and they usually don't eat it all and the rest sits there for a few hours until they go back and eat that. But if Mietzi gets hungry in the middle of the night (or just bored) and there is no food she will rip the toilet paper or paper towl roll apart. She doesn't eat it, just tear it.
Could you put all the toilet paper away, maybe on a weekend, and see what happens? If he gets upset maybe play with him, tell him he's a good kitty....

my Mommy wants to buy a scale for me. She thinks I lost some weight (which is good). She doesn't want to wait for me to get weight at the Vet's because we only go once a year.
She got a baby scale from Target but it didn't work very well.
Do any of you have a scale that works good for kitties?
