Munchie that really isnt alot of calories but take a look at this link
link

and it will tell you the amount to give for the one who needs to loose weight. You basically use the same formula, but you put in the weight your cat should be instead of actual weight. So for example if munchie weighs 14 lbs and you want munchie to weigh 11 lbs (this is safest for now) then 11x13.6+70=220 calories a day.

Your right Nigel Pibb there is no perfect pet food, that is why we have to get back to basics and feed what an obligate carnivore would naturally eat.
That is our opinion anyhow.

Kobe all I will say is to read this web page that I give you, it will help you understand feline nutrition better, and it will help you get your feline down to the proper weight safely.
I would explain it all but I have a bad cold, so only doing quick posts. Good luck Kobe smile

Munchie I will have to look for that and send you the links.
Yes the high protein dry will help gain weight, it may just alittle too much so be careful with it, never feed what it says on the bag.
Take the weight of cat and times that by 13.6 and add 70 this will give you the amount of calories cats should have in a day.

Here is a feeder that we use when we go out overnight.
this is in British currency, we paid about 40$ canadian at our local pet store.
automatic feeder

we use the 2 compartment one.
Though I will say that putting down about 3 .oz for each cat will be fine, and just leave it down, unless of course it is very hot where you live? It is so much better for them, than having food constantly available, its very hard on their pancreas. Remember though that the higher the protein the food the better, and the more satisfied they will be.

Do not add water to Kibble as this can cause bacteria to grow on the kibble, which can upset a cats tummy, and can even be deadly. You can only do this if they eat all of it within a half hour.

Why dont you feed a food that both cat and kitten can have? There is Evo cat and kitten wet food. Plus the higher protein ones like Wellness grain free wet are fine for kittens.
