Choosing the Right Cat > I have been wondering....
Al aka Alamo- Schmo

I'm a scarf.. no- really.. a mink- scarf!

Yo! I'm a purebred AND a rescue! Lots of purebred clubs and societies have internet pages giving details of cats with pedigrees that need rehoming. I'm from a Cats Protection Shelter tho. Willow is the product of moggy not getting neutered. You can say what you like about breeders, but they (the decent ones) all insist their kittens get neutered, not like moggies.

Cats from shelters are usually neutered after rescue. They do ask for a contribution to cover this usually, nothing in life is free.

Dont diss purebreds! We all need love!

Cat Health > Poll: Who is the primary cat care giver in your home?

Well.. thats a well argued point! Mum says she does most of it, but Dad disagrees. He feeds us in the morning but for the rest of the day Mum is with us at home so she does our litter tray, keeps us fed and watered, and takes us out in the garden for a play. The only thing she doesn't like doing is opening pouches of food that have gravy in -it gets on her fingers! Mum gives me the most cuddles but then she is always working on her laptop lounging on the bed, which is purrfect for snuggling up!

I had my eye removed after a severe infection, got the gap sewn up, it does get icky sometimes so my human has to clean it.. but then being a Persian I get icky face anyway. I bounced back fine (yet to be photo'd a la Cyclops yet!)

I love Whiskas Temptations, and mum and dad first intorduced me to those when I went from kitten food to adult food. I tried one or two.. now I LOVE them, and they are a great incentive to come in when I'm called!

I know a lot of Catsters dont like mass produced treats, but would their humans go completely without shop-bought cookies and cakes.. hmm.. I doubt it!

Behavior & Training > Leashes, Harnesses and Carriers

My vet is a few doors down from me. They insist their cat patients arrive in a carrier, but its very heavy to carry (its a big plastic one), especially when I go to the vet instead of Willow (I'm a big heavy lump!). Mum doesn't want to use the car for such a short journey, and I dont like the harness. Any suggestions so she doesn't end up with stretched arms? Also, she would like to take me out more so I'm not stuck indoors the whole time, ie if she has to get a pint of milk from the corner shop, and meet new people so I get used to humans.

I wont have much to do with mummy indoors but when we are outdoors I stick by her a lot. Especially since my big fight when my leg got bitten.
Stressful things happen out there and can affect cat behaviour: stuff you cant see, territory battles, unwanted romancing, startling dogs, kids, all sorts. And things outdoors can change and surprise us, even if a building has changed or a tree pruned. We're very sensitive creatures you know.

And there are other parasites as well as fleas. Worms, like I mentioned. Wild animals are crawling with them! Plus they might have mange or all sorts of other stuff. Wild birds commonly have salmonella infections.

Aww sorry to hear that. Patsie who lives with us is on her THIRD home. Al and Willow's mum and dad had her for a bit, but she cried a lot too. They were anxious she would never be happy with them, so they came to live with us.. and we made her feel right at home - in fact, she pushed us around a bit - we were ok with it: our house and garden are so big we have enough space each!
Hopefully just the right family will come along and you will have a proper happy ending way to go
