| Purred: Fri Oct 9, '09 5:40pm PST | | | | | | Try putting double sided sticky tape or foil on the counters. Most cats don't like stepping on foil or sticky tape.
Maybe you should also get a cat stand/perch or a chair so he has a high place to jump on in the kitchen. Whenever you see him on the counter, remove him and then place him on the stand or chair.
Hope this helps! | | | | |

| Purred: Wed Aug 5, '09 11:07am PST | | | | | | Felix and Hudson stand up to pee too! It was soooo frustrating when they first started doing it but then I finally figured out a way to keep the litter box area clean.
What I do so the pee doesn't go all over the walls and floor is I tape a sheet of plastic (garbage bag) against the wall and it goes underneath the litter box also. Then I put litter in between the space of the litter box and wall so the pee collects in the litter on the sheet of plastic and I can easily scoop it out. I wipe the plastic every day also and it doesn't smell at all anymore.
Hope this helps! | | | | |

I'm going to start walking my cats on a harness this year too (when it gets warmer) so they can get some fresh air, it's perfectly fine. But you will need to buy flea medication like Frontline or Advantage from a vet and apply it every month to avoid flea infestations and tapeworms. Cats can get tapeworms by ingesting fleas. It doesn't really matter if he's on the grass or pavement because fleas can be anywhere outside so just get flea medication and you should be ok.

Maybe it's not the litter but the pan that smells. Wash out the pan with soap once a week and see if that helps.
