Apparently there was a law passed that prevents vets from sharing information with anyone, even other vets.... It is insane and personally I think it takes HIPPA laws a little too far. I had to jump through major hoops to get vet records sent to another vet so Cleo and Spaz could stay in a kennel for a couple of days due to very loud machines in my one bedroom apartment.... *sigh* I agree that is VERY sad that prevented you from being able to adopt the cat you wanted frown

Have you tried a special breed rescue? Maybe you will have better luck.

Cat Health > Pet Insurance?

Cleopatra

My vet also recommends a separate account for us rather than insurance. Mom has done this and puts aside the amount that it would cost to insure us and than for any birthday/Christmas/ or just because money she will set aside at least 10%. IMHO the more you have in your "emergency pet fund" the better off you will be. We never know what may happen in the future and we are all pretty much one or two checks away from being on the streets..... Save as much as you can and dont touch it UNLESS it is an emergency.

You're welcome.... I actually dont qualify for most plans anyway because I am 13 and Spaz could but has a heart condition we have been treating so he wouldn't qualify either.... any new cats however might get some insurance

Glad your tests came back negative!

What you might do in lieu of pet insurance is what my vet recommended for mom. Figure out about how much you would pay for an insurance plan each month and put that money in a separate place for you. Mom has a separate place for us and it has been working well so far smile. Even as a poor college student we now have more money than her! MOL

What she does is set a certain amount aside each month but also 10% of any birthday/Christmas/ or just because money that she gets. It may not be a lot, but it adds up fast, and we dont spend it as fast as mom spends hers big grin And of course she isn't allowed to touch our money unless it is an absolute dire emergency, like lack of housing or catfood, MOL

I dont know what could be going on but, has the vet run a full blood panel? That might be something you might ask the vet about.

Hope they get it figured out! Purring for you smile
