My momma is on her second run of taking care of a fur baby with CRF (chronic renal failure). The best foods we have found have been Hills science diet K/D (which I refuse to eat..but Misty did) and Royal Canin Renal LP (Which all of us in the family LOVE to eat). The royal Canin has no fish in it (so velvets face won't swell up) and Petsmart carries the wet pouches by prescription for about 90 cents and the dry foos runs about 25 dollars a bag. Momma feeds me and Missy wet food and all of us can graize on the dry food cause I have CRF and the newbie Missy has HCM (heart problems).

SubQ's are easy. My momma did them at home by herself for my litter sister Misty 3 times a week for almost 2 years before she went to the rainbow bridge (she got pneumonia from running outside when she shouldn't have). I just found out Last week I'm in the early stages of kidney failure and got my first subQ that day. I didn't even put up a fuss. Furbabies know when you are doing something good for them. But you might want to stock up on some treats for after you are done just to let them know you care. I like chicken flavored temptations. I have to go back in 3 months to get my checkup and see how things are going. I even have my own special food (science diet K/D).
