We have had grey/white, calico, black/white, orange, grey and they have all been very affectionate. We've also had a Siamese. We had to raise most of them with a bottle so they are very people oriented.

But out of all of them I would have to say that, by far, the male orange is the most affectionate. Our vet even said that you can't beat the male orange cat when it comes to being affectionate.

I don't know of any particular breed that would be better than another. I think starting out with a kitten would be the best way to go.
