Saying Goodbye: Memorials & Support > When will the pain go away

Gizmo

Angel at the- Rainbow bridge

I passed in Feb, 2008 and sometimes mommy cries into her pillow when she thinks of me. It never goes away, it gets easier, but the hole in your heart stays.

One day you will be with your baby again.

Other Meows & Purrs > My experience with Cat hoarding and FeLv

Gizmo

Angel at the- Rainbow bridge

I thought Id share a little bit my story as it may help someone.

My mother was always a animal lover of all kinds, but her soft spots were for cats. We only had three cats up until I was twelve when someone dropped a very pregnant mommy cat off at our door, my mother could not turn her away and soon after we had kittens. My mother had been very good at getting everyone fixed up until then as she fell onto hard times.

They continued to breed until we had somewhere around 20 cats all inside...somewhere along the way mommy cat contracted the Feline Leukemia Virus and they passed it among each other..some were born with it like my angel Gizmo.

It had gotten out of control, no one wanted a sick cat, no kill shelters wouldn't take them. So my mother cared for them the best she could as surly a short life must be better then being put down and slowly they would get sick and die. Some died as kittens, some got sick one day and the next they would be dead. The worst was when one suffered it broke our hearts. out of the 20 only three are alive today. The hardest was when my baby Gizmo developed tumors on his legs and would pass out on the floor..I had to have him put down at 7yrs.

This experience was one of the worst things of my life and my heart goes out to anyone who has or is experiencing anything like this.

It has made me OCD about my current cats health to the point some might think I'm crazy.. over protective and unable to handle the death of a beloved animal. I feel guilty, like I could of done something more.
My mother and I cry about all the cats we have lost from time to time.

I fear that my love for cats could turn into a nightmare like before because I feel like I need to help/save them all..I know it isn't possible.

Behavior & Training > Discussion: Is too much love a bad thing?

Sounds like your co worker has never experienced the amazing bond one can have with a cat.....I spoil my cats to death, I only wish they were more lap type cats then they are. My late Gizmo was very needy, he followed me all day and never left my side and was very talkative about what he wanted. I'm a lil needy myself, so we suited each other well. I prefer needy cats over more Independence ones, but I love them all.

Spoil your kitty he deserves it, like people.. some kitty's need constant reassurance and love to be happy. Just shows in return what a good master you are since he loves you so much.

This seems early to me, but I haven't had a tom in a long time. A bit ago Ransom who is 5mo tomcat was playing with Zelda 1yr fixed female. I turned away and looked back to find him on top of her, nape of her neck in his mouth..Zelda just stayed put letting him. Kinda caught me off guard as he just turned 5mo and has not started spraying. I'm waiting to 6mo to neuter. Could this be a sign to have it done sooner? Do male cats practice this before they hit puberty?

I wish someone would hold the idiots down who did this and tattoo a cat arse on their foreheads, but really...I just want to inflict pain upon these people.

Cat Health > Outdoor Cats? Why?

Zelda

You're boring me

Purred: Fri May 18, '12 11:05am PST
Sometimes I feel bad not letting my kitty's out, Zelda the most because she was feral, but if I did I would be worried to death. With all the dangers, cars, people who hate cats, other animals, disease and etc. I have decided to never let my cat's out. I hope one day I can move and have a big enough yard to have a outdoor en closer built for them. Outside cats have an average life span of 3-5yrs, while indoor cats can live 15 yrs..what a difference

Cat Health > I wasted my money on PetArmor ! ! !

I used PetArmor on Ransom when I first got him and he was very badly infested..to the point they would crawl in his eyes. It was very effective, killed all fleas within 2 days. Maybe you got a defective batch or something, or maybe I got lucky?
It did irritate my babies skin though and that I didn't like.
