 | | | | Oh my, My Mommy is feeling ancient right now. The first presidential election she "worked" in was for President Truman in 1948. Her duty was to hand Mrs. Truman a bunch of flowers when she and President Truman visited the Studebaker automobile manufacturing plant during his campaign. When they had mock elections in her second grade class, she followed her Daddy's lead in blurting out, "I'm a Democrat and I don't give a D_ _ _ who knows it!" That was the first time her politics got her into trouble. She worked in every Democrat presidential campaign between then and when she could actually vote in 1964. Back in the "olden" days, you had to be 21 to vote. So, Lyndon Johnson was the first president she actually voted for. She says she'll take her walker and wheel away now. | | | | |
