Alright so as most of you know Graffiti is having his x-rays today. Hubby and I dropped him off at the vets this morning and we should be picking him up sometime late afternoon, they will call me to let me know when he is finished.

HOWEVER! IF he doesn't lay still or copperate, which there is a likely chance he wont since he is a very fiesty kitty they said they may have to give him a mild sedation. Now correct me if I am wrong, if there is a heart condition they shouldn't be given any sedation beccause it can cause serious problems and even death? And with not knowing how sever his heart condition is I personally feel he should be staying away from it all together! I told them to call me if they need to use and it and when they do I am just going to tell them not to, I don't know if I could take that risk of something happening.

what would you all do?

They told me the same thing with Tigger, and I was fit to be tied also. I think they tell you that as a worst case scenario. I felt the same regarding it. Tigger usually charms all the girls MOL. Please let us know how things went for Graffitti. He is so very cute & we are purring hard for him to do well!

I had to be sedated for my x rays and ultrasound as I'm not cooperative at all. This was a big worry for my mum and dad too, but they used a pain killer called Torbugesic, it's not an anaesthetic and I think they use than in particular because it's safe for cats with heart problems. Mum says when I came home, I was the nicest I've ever been, all purry and friendlysmile I think she'd like to get some more of that stuff for me!

**I just coppied and pasted this from the thread in the health forum**

hahaha yes yes both my husband and I are learning! I feel WAY more at ease now that I am more aware of everything going on and what needs to be done. I have a little sense of control for a certain extent, obviously not with Graffiti's condition, but how everything is being treated.

The x-rays went great apparently! Graffiti didn't fuss one bit when they were doing them so they were really pleased. Our vet did show them to me, went over the results on the phone AND when I went in to pick him up. He does have asthma(doughnut shapes in his lungs) so thats what the coughing attack things are. His heart is enlarged but she said there was no fluid so that is good! He had the blood drawn while he was there, which the vet even suggested to do anyway which is the Wellness profile with T4, not sure what the T4 is and another blood test in regards to his heart, but right now I can't remember what it was all about(its late). I totally forgot, which I will blame on my preggo brain right now and being very overwhelmed with everything that I didn't ask where they send the blood to be tested, but we should be getting the results tomorrow hopefully.

I talked to the vet about getting the ultrasound done and where the cardiologist was and so on and she said they actually bring in the specialist to their place and have it done there so I think thats good? I WILL be going in with Graffiti when he gets the ultrasound done, I do want to see it with my own eyes and actually talk to the specialist about it first hand and have him/her explain everything to me. Once that is done, we should have a clear diagnoses of what heart disease Graffiti has and the action plan to take.

All in all so far everything is going smoothly and I was afraid I was going to have to push and pull to get things done, but they seem like a REALLY good vets office. And they always call the day after he has been in to see how he is doing, I thought that was cute. All the other vets we have gone to don't know the cats names, can't remember anything to do with them and never call or anything afterwards.

Anyways, I will let yuo know the results for his blood when I get them.
