	HARVEST GREG LAURIE For Righteousness’ Sake While Peter and John were speaking to the people, they were confronted by the priests, the captain of the Temple guard, and some of the Sadducees. These leaders were very disturbed that Peter and John were teaching the people that through Jesus there is a resurrection of the dead. - (Acts 4:1–2) This may come as a surprise to you, but if you are a Christian and everyone likes you, then you probably aren’t doing something right. If no one is ever offended by anything you say or do, then I have to question how closely you are following Christ. Jesus said, “What sorrow awaits you who are praised by the crowds, for their ancestors also praised false prophets” (Luke 6:26). When you have been with Jesus and are, in effect, just like Him, you will be treated the same as He was. And how did they treat Jesus? Not so well. He had temporary popularity, but the crowds turned against Him. And here is what Jesus says to us: Do you remember what I told you? “A slave is not greater than the master.” Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you. They will do all this to you because of me, for they have rejected the one who sent me. (John 15:20–21) Our job is not to get along with everyone. Our job is to walk with God and try to reach everyone. Sometimes it will make people angry when we speak up and say something they disagree with. Now we can do that in a loving way. We can do it in a compassionate way. But we need to do it in a direct way. What concerns me is that sometimes we are persecuted for the wrong reasons. Far too often I have seen Christians who are persecuted because they are unnecessarily offensive. So be a pleasant person. Be a friendly a person. Be a loving person. And be persecuted for righteousness’ sake because you are a follower of Christ and are a reflection of Him. Summary sentence: Have you ever been persecuted for your stand in Christ? 	DAILY WORD JACK GRAHAM What it means for Christ to live in you Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16 I remember it like it was yesterday… moving our oldest child into his college dorm. It was such an emotional experience. Prior to that time I got some time to sit down with him and just talk about the future. So I told him, “I want to give you a little word of counsel as your father because you’re going to be on your own; you’re going to be making choices separate from your parents now. And although you’ve had a lot of liberty and independence, you’re going to have greater independence than you have ever had.” So I gave him today’s Scripture and I talked about how our faith has to be more to us than just a religion, but a personal relationship with God. And the key to not just maintaining but strengthening your faith in these formative years, is to allow God’s Word to become such an integral part of who you are that it actually resides inside you. Over and over again, the Scripture teaches that when you come to Christ, it is no longer your life, but Christ living in you. Christianity is not behavior modification, but rather it is spiritual transformation of the inner life. So that whatever you do, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ who lives in and through you! REAL LIFE ISN’T FOUND IN RELIGION, BUT IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST. It is never too late for Him to do so, when the impossible is brought to Him, in full faith, by the one in whose life and circumstances the impossible must be accomplished if God is to be glorified. If in our own life there have been rebellion, unbelief, sin, and disaster, it is never too late for God to deal triumphantly with these tragic facts if brought to Him in full surrender and trust. It has often been said, and with truth, that Christianity is the only religion that can deal with man's past. God can "restore the years that the locust hath eaten" (Joel 2:25); and He will do this when we put the whole situation and ourselves unreservedly and believingly into His hands. Not because of what we are but because of what He is. God forgives and heals and restores. He is "the God of all grace." 	FAITH'S CHECKBOOK C.H. SPURGEON Full Reliance on God "For He shall deliver the needy when he lieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper" (Psalm 72:12). The needy cries; what else can he do? His cry is heard of God; what else need he do? Let the needy reader take to crying at once, for this will be his wisdom. Do not cry in the ears of friends, for even if they can help you it is only because the LORD enables them. The nearest way is to go straight to God and let your cry come up before Him. Straightforward makes the best runner: run to the LORD and not to secondary causes. "Alas!" you cry, "I have no friend or helper." So much the better; you can rely upon God in both capacities - as without supplies and without helpers. Make your double need your double plea. Even for temporal mercies you may wait upon God, for He careth for His children in these temporary concerns. As for spiritual necessities, which are the heaviest of all, the LORD will hear your cry and will deliver you and supply you. O poor friend, try your rich God. O helpless one, lean on His help. He has never failed me, and I am sure He will never fail you. Come as a beggar, and God will not refuse you help. Come with no plea but His grace. Jesus is King; will He let you perish of wants What! Exodus 34:14 FROM THE FATHER'S HEART My child, do you crave unswerving devotion from your spouse? The thought of betrayal is enough to fire up every jealous nerve in your body and spirit. Of course I desire all of your attention, all of your time, and all of your self. I am a jealous God, but not because of a fear of being replaced, as you feel. I love you so much that I am not willing for anyone to steal your heart away. I gave My life for you because I want none to perish. A GRATEFUL RESPONSE Your jealousy is not a flaw in Your character, Lord. Because You love me so much, You demand no less than my total de-votion. You tolerate no other loves. In my negligence, I often build idols of my own choosing. But how can my heart truly worship another but You, Lord? Only You satisfy.
