Shelter Frustrations

If you volunteer, I can almost guarantee that from time to time you are frustrated about something. Maybe we can all learn from each other on how to deal with some of the issues we run across...

My frustrations are:
1. the shelter I volunteer for is a kill shelter - they accept ALL animals through their doors, but there are times for medical reasons or behavior reasons, the animals are euthanized. I don't know what the answer is... I understand it in some instances, I would just like to see the kill numbers lower.

2. Politics, politics, politics... why, when organizations have the same end goal - to find permanent homes for animals that need them - is there competition and attitude? Does anyone ever encounter defensiveness and ego?
