Lily tore her ACL last week. Dr. says four weeks of not putting weight on that leg (yeah, right!), then water therapy at the local vet school. I saw a post in the dog health forum with a natural healing protocol, I think they got it from another web site because I found the same protocol when I googled ACL tear. One of the supplements is Ester-C. I try to be a good mom, and as a former nutrition major, I research everything I can about a specific ingredient. So I started researching Ester-C. I guess I was brain dead the day we covered vitamin C in class because I did not remember the connection between vitamin C and collagen. I have severe osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis to be exact. If I had known about this connection, I would have been taking this from the start! I picked some up tonight for Lily - and me. Has any pup gone through the protocol and did you have success? I'm trying to avoid surgery because Lily is a very active girl and keeping her still during an 8 week recovery will be impossible. We're only a week into this and she is going stir crazy, and bringing me along with her, BOL! I'm curious to hear if anyone followed the protocol, what success they had, what didn't work, did they modify it in any way, does it have to be followed exactly.

I'm just so bummed for my Lily Girl. Out of the four Chiwawa's she's the most active and got such joy out of running around the yard, chasing squirrels, lizards, frogs, playing 'football' with her old mom. She could cut like no running back I've ever seen - and she knew it. You could just see the satisfaction beaming from her beautiful eyes when she got past me and made a touchdown! I so hope we'll be able to get back to that point. It would be such a shame for her to end up lame.

Thanks in advance for any info you may have.
