Well, we are all going to be moving in a couple of months. From an apartment where we are indoors only to a home with a backyard! Yaaay! Now, we would love some advice from those who are in the know on this subject...also, we'll have a new furry family member, a GIANT calico we call the "Land Manatee"....she's a little territorial but in time she'll learn to love us too.
Please, send advice!
thanks,

I was and outdoor cat and now I'm an indoor cat. This is not a good thing. I was soooo happy when I could go out, but now because of my illness, I have to stay in. I get very frustrated and even a little depressed sometimes.
Meowmy says it's dangerous outdoors - ticks, fleas, cars, bigger cats (some with contagious diseases), alligators, etc.
Have you convinced your meowmy that you will stay in your back yard (even fenced in)? We know better, don't we? We are sooo smart. We always find a way to get out.
I think that if you have never known the freedom of going out, you won't miss it, but once you try it, you will never be happy being indoors all the time. And just think of how your meowmy would feel if anything bad happened to you.... I know she loves you very much.
There are some cages for sale (not sure where) that are made just for kitties to be able to go out in the grass and feel the breeze blowing their whiskers, but those people make them so that we can't escape. I'm not sure how much they cost. I'm lucky that we have a large cage around the pool, so that even though I can't go in the grass, I can still be sort of outside.
I hope this helps - sorry I got so loquacious, but I've been there, and I'm purring that your meowmy will make the right decision for you.

I live to drive- mom nuts!
 |
| Purred: Wed Apr 29, '09 10:56am PST | | | | | | Well, mom tried a leash with me and I acted like I was tied up. I fell on my side and pretended that is was so horrible. My sister Chloe does well on her leash. But she isn't a bengal so she doesn't know how important we are!
So mom got me a stroller. It is fun to sleep in and she brings me out once in a while. I talk to everything I see.
I think an enclosure is the best thing. We have a sunroom and I can see lots of stuff. When I got loose from my leash, I was so over excited it was easy for mom to catch me.
She also takes me for a walk in her arms down to the mailbox. I see birds and bunnies in the yard and howl at them!

We love the garden and eating the grassies, we got to see a hummingbird the other day - she buzzed us! how fun..
so, so far so good!
over and out,
