Here's some handy info to help when looking for a lost cat

Myself I found the best way to get your message out there is to talk
to as many people as you can. That means DOOR KNOCKING, going to the
VETS in person ( I also took biscuits around each time I visited them
and they in turn kept the flyer on the wall and also told me if
anyone commented on the flyers. If they mentioned any location they
may have seen him). You have to visit the SPCA in person as they
don't really describe the cats that well and they are very busy
themselves.

Ideas that the group has mentioned

 Using Cat traps
* Making up a Smoothie ( smelly trail of cat food leading home)
* Using Cameras
* Food stations
* Leaving food and water outside, with smelly clothes ( with your
smell on it).
* Looking in strange areas, i.e. on the roof, in the ceiling, in drains,
(if you can't see into these areas use a camera at arms length or on
a stick with time delay so you can take a photo and view it on the
computer)
* FLYERS everywhere
* Cooking smelly cat food on a BBQ. ( the heat makes the food smell
stronger)
* Walking the streets calling them especially on dusk, dawn or 4 am
in the morning. This seems to be a time they are more active.
* If you see cat food bowls outside leave a small flyer near it.
* Are there any vacant houses around (could they be locked in)
* Any cat hoarders around?
* Stray cat feeders?
* They say cats don't normally travel more than 1 mile from your
home, so get a map and draw a mile radius around your house.
* Have any neighbours had removal trucks around or service people
around? (your pet may have gone for a ride).
* if using cat traps, some have suggested using baby monitors to
moniter the traps.
* you could also try using signage on your car, or a poster stuck on
the back windows.
* A large sign on your front fence, or even dress up in a cat suit or
something else to attract attention and stand next to your sign or
hold it during peak hour traffic. LOL you may need to read the story
on this one to understand what I mean)

These are just a few ideas.

If you need anymore info on any of these ones, please meow or woof out we are happy to help.

I was so afraid that I hid inside any bush I could fine. My paws were raw from running at night, but during the day I just hid. I heard Momma calling me, but I was so weak that I didn't want to meow back or the coyotes would eat me. And I really didn't know where I was.
My sense of smell is good and first I found a couple q-tips that smelled like my Momma--I like to take them out of the trash and play with them.
But I was still lost. Then I smelled the familiar smell of MY OWN KITTY LITTER--and my sister's.
I found my way close to home the very next day, but a neighbor saw me and I ran because I was afraid. But that night, when it was quiet again, the kitty litter smell was SO STRONG. I followed the smell and found my door--which my Momma had left open so I could push it.
Kitty Litter works wonders! I don't think I would have ever found my way back to my warm bed if I didn't smell it. Even though I try to cover up the smell, it was nice to smell it because it was familiar, and since I'd never been outside, NOTHING smelled familiar so I was terrified and just hid.
(Indoor cats are DISPLACED. Google how to find a Lost DISPLACED cat. There are tips on how to find your pet.)

I like how you said you set up your trap it sounds great, good luck to trapping that furball Fizz. Also have you thought of getting an old baby monitor so you can hear when the trap goes off. (that's if the trap is close to home). There are some cats around that are good with traps. I hope they respond to you. Hee hee as I was not very successful. I think I should have read more about them.
Good luck

Stuck in strange places... makes sense for a cat... how often do cats get stuck under houses? I was wondering because there's a certain corner my dogs keep pawing at. I think it's just a mouse, but you can never be too sure, right?

Can you try using a digital camera and take a photo.thinking The human did that, not only to look for me but to comfort her to know I wasn't just trapped somewhere close. She would never have forgiven herself if something had happened to me right under her nose.

They say cats if frightened can crawl into the smallest of places to get out of danger, so do check places you wouldn't even dream a cat could get into.

It only takes a short time and is peace of mind AND the best thing it doesn't cost anythinglaugh out loud

Subject: Mass mailings

In yesterday's mail we received a postcard for a missing dog. It had a photo and all the information needed. I thought this was a great idea for reaching a lot of people about a missing pet.

When I looked closer I saw that this was done by a service:

http://www.lostpetcards.com/index.htm

They are a bit pricey but I think it would really be worth it.
